While this comes with great jubilation in the U.S. I was wondering what the opinions of citizens of non-U.S. countries were. I mean. I'm pretty sure nobody is sad he's dead, but I'm also now sure how many countries there are that are as excited about this as the U.S. is. Thoughts?

    Fun fact.

The 'Mission Accomplished' speech was given 8 years ago... TODAY.

He's not dead, he's sleeping. Somebody poke him. With a sword.

:| I was honestly hoping for some quality input, kids. There's a reason why this is in the lounge.

I'm from the US and my dad was almost killed at the Pentagon, so ofc I'm glad he has finally been killed. I've been hoping he wasn't going to die from old age, and instead die from being at the wrong end of a gun.

However, I doubt this will end the threat, might end up being a 'cutting off the hydras head' sort of deal.

I got finals this week, and I cant concentrate now. >.<

I dunno, I thought it was a pretty interesting coincidence that it just so HAPPENS to be on the same day as one of the US's largest 'whoopsies' concerning the war. Nine years after our prez said "Alright guy's, we got this, we're done', it's still not over? Then, with all the hooplah concerning Obama's birth cert, his rapidly dropping (?) approval rating... The timing just seems... odd. I'm not saying there's a conspiricy (I'm not saying there isn't) it just seems a liiiiiittle bit much.

Or maybe I'm reading into it far too much.

Anyways. I hope no one thinks for a second that this is going to cause a cessation in hostilities on either side. I'm not even sure how much of a military presence we have in Afghanistan anymore compared to Iraq. Regardless, people are dying on both sides, war is hell, and it is waaaay too hot over there.

Real quick @ Eon - Osama hasn't really been the head for ages. He's more of a figurehead, a tangible symbol of our ongoing aggression. Now the US just has less of an excuse to be blowing **** up over there.

On a different note, what did you think of Obama's speech?

I knew that much, thus he'll likely be seen as some martyr with a lot of people. At least this is a moral boost for a lot of people. That and it'll feel really good for those who lost friends or family members during 9/11. Deal with the other stuff later, celebrate a hated man's death now.

On an unrelated note, found this on IdrA's twitter:

People have said a few different things, but the one I hear the most is from a shootout at a mansion he was staying at.

Couldn't we just prop up his body and do a trial anyway?

At the very least, I want video proof that he's been killed.

You know, I was just thinking. It doesn't matter either way if it was really him that was killed.

Think about it. Osama was never really a tactical mastermind, he was a PR guy. Either he's dead and can't do any videos to inspire/terrorize or he's pretending he's dead and can't do any videos.

Ah well, it is not like the outcome of the trial would have been any different. And frankly, I make an exception in my opposition to the death penalty for political figureheads.

Anyway, I really can't be bothered enough to give a damn about it. We found a corpse. Woop-de-doo.

There was a shootout at a "compound" he was staying at in a city/town (Hababad? Something like that...) near Pakistan's capital between U.S. forces (I've heard rumours that the actual person to fire the shot that killed him was a special ops agent from some other nation) and his bodyguards/him.

Well, the definition of near differs per country. Its about 60 km north of the capital.

I live in America. Sad to say, I have no "emotional scars" from the twin towers.

I tend to dislike most people, and my mind is intoxicated with the wine that seeks to destroy all arrogance, stupidity, and chance.

Perhaps I will not gain perfect control.
Maybe I will not be so very important in human history.

It doesn't have to be me that relinquishes my enemy.

Although, even if it is politically terrible, I wonder what happen if we captured Osama alive.

I do not wish to tolerate violent people. When they order death, Do They Understand What They Are Saying?
