heres the idea, if i build a void ray vs zerg very early he mut do one of two things either make more queens or make spore crawlers, this costs money and if you can constantly harrass said zerg he will get frustrated and make way to many spores or queens to deal with something doing very little. this is similar to the idea of banshee harras, and though it may seem like a void ray rush, our intent is not to kill the zerg but rather put him back in his base so that we may expand. it also prevents the zerg from expanding easily or going to lair tech. so here are the ideal steps. filled in with build probes and pylons.

Build gateway (somewhere around 12-13 is when i do)
    double assimilator
    (build zealots all the time)
    build cybo
build void ray (send said void to haras if he has an overlord somewhere make sure to kill it so he knows its coming as panic is what you want)
    expand
    dont lose void ray.
(build more stuff with your new expo)

in this replay i feel that the zerg over produces queen to defend against 2 voids which was my intention though i beleive i could have played much better this illistrate a point. please give thoughts

    Thx.

That was a nice match to watch, it could work at lower levels I guess.

The game was won more on that zerg player failing then you doing anything special though. 1st battle, he could of micro that fight a lot better....suppose to let the roaches tank zealots and then speedlings go around stalkers, but the dude just let them get ripped by zealots. I always have 3-4 queens out regardless if void ray is made or not, he did sort of hit the panic button though and saw 2+ queens qued up lol.

When I play PvZ as protoss I rather make phoenixes and harass overlord - queens and then make them transition into hydralisk den. Which then leads me into free expand - collosus - gg. So it's kind of the same harass I guess.

Because you said your using the void ray as a way to harass and make them hit the panic button, I'm pretty sure phoenixes play that roll pretty darn good as well.

    Good strategy though,

phoenix harras requires allot more attention for one, and it is less effective vs zerg than other i have found. and yes there were many things that coulda been done better but i think its works as an example.

Nice match. And while I do see the trick here that could work, I'd like to point out that you left the overseer in your base for too long. If Zerg had made use of that, they could've figured out that you weren't massing rays - I know this because I was checking why you let the overlord stay there and not once did I see the stargate working. If the Zerg player had done the same (I personally hotkey my overseers) they could've prepared for your push better.

But mistakes are part of the game so I'm not complaining - just saying that I think that not checking back to the ovie/seer was what cost Zerg the game.

I imagine it probably would work but you gotta sell the spam more. I think it would be more effecting using the 1 void to snipe the OL's (as someone said). It would probably make the OP paranoid enough to keep them in base...which would be a win for you since he would lose scouting ability.

i prolly did leave the overseer there to long, but honestly he didnt see the void till it attacked him. but i was trying to leave it long enough to hopefully get him to know that i was doing something with voids.
