if there is anything i hate, it is overused sci-fi plots being used by otherwise good sci-fi series.

I especially hate time loop episodes, god those things are awfull

which overused plot do you detest the most?

    Hrmmm, tough one.

For me, it'd have to be an outbreak of some genetically altered animal (i.e. an excuse to use low-budget CG instead of actually renting the animals for use). On top of the genetic alteration being something that could easily (and cheaply) be accomplished by breeding, like increasing bulk and aggression, the animal is usually one that the human race has fought for thousands of years (wolves, etc.) and yet the protagonists have no idea of how to dispose of said animal, which results in one of the protagonists hiding in a closet with a chainsaw until the animal finds him, which is followed by the camera cutting between three scenes: 1) man (always a man) swinging chainsaw. 2) extreme closeup of animal's head/upper body writhing in pain. 3) "ketchup bottle" blood spatter on the protagonist or his surroundings. Toss in some romance with a shallow female character to round it off.

i dont think i've seen a lot of their plots before though

maybe they did something like cyberwoman with a borg in star trek, but most of their plots were original
