I got the beta last night on Jon's stream, but having an issue with getting the patch 10 to install.

It keeps looping, when it finishes, it just restarts the update patch download again. One attempt gave me this error:

"The instruction at '0x7c91b21a' referenced memory at '0x00000010'. The memory could not be 'written'."

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I haven't had any issue with previous steps in getting the beta. Using Widows XP as my OS.

deleted installer and previous SC2 beta files, closed all programs and re-dl'd installer, installed beta, and same issue occurred again.

So, I give up. I have no idea what the reason is, but it's not dl'ing the patch onto my laptop properly, and thus keeps trying to dl the same items repeatedly.

I pretty much see this a s a sign that SC2 wont run on my laptop. And since I won't have the money for a new one til after done with college, I won't be playing it for at least 2 more years...**** laptop's and their chipsets...

I don't think specs have anything to do with the loop. It's just downloading and (over)writing a few files.

That said, I tried patch 9, didn't run, and now patch 10 loops, so... :D

What I found weird was that I wanted to set SC2 and the downloader as exceptions to the Windows firewall, they weren't listed but I couldn't add them because it said they were already on the list. Anyway. Will get back to this once my new rig lands.

If you're very keen on playing SC2 then consider buying a new system for a couple of hundred dollars. Sell your current system. And Kurai's, too, while at it :D
