The book was a huge tome and in the U.S. was released as two books. I'm reading this now, and noticed something fascinating, particularly for those of us looking forward to SC2. The ship on the front cover looks remarkably like a Protoss mothership! Was the mothership an homage to Hamilton's work, or a coincidence?

    Interesting......

I think it's a coincidence. Although they look similar, this particular design of a city ship with three or four points extended from the main body is very common in science fiction. It also looks similar to the Atlantis base in Stargate when it's flying, and to the front covers on some older editions of Arthur C Clarke and Isaac Asimov novels.
