One of the biggest problems I'm having is generally with viking, but I've seen it with phoenix is losing overlords. Some guys are flying in fast vikings/phoenix to knock out overlords. I generally dont keep more than 1 or 2 more than needed during beginning/mid-game to conserve resources.

I don't like to rush with T1. I find my best strategies are to throw down some spine crawlers and a queen or two to defend T1 then tech fast to T2 and muta harass and nydas in Hydras. It's generally GG at that point, but my biggest weakness is to players overlord harassing slowing me down to the point I get overrun and supply not mineral capped.

    Any ideas?

If thats happening i clump all of my overlords together and put down a spore crawler or 2 below them. Most players won't overlord harrass if its gonna cost them units. If they are particularly fiesty 2-3 hydras also help or more than 1 queen.

Overlords are armoured so phoenixs while fast do very little damage against them. Vikings do more but they are slow and fragile.

I've just been moving my hydras near my overlords, but I think a few spore crawlers might be the answer. I generally fast expand going 12/10 drones to 11/10 with the expansion. I like to keep the majority of my hydras in the nydus to pop at either base if needed. Zergs quirky, but awesome build mechanics mean half my army is built at my expo. The nydus is the solution to warp half my army across the map if need be, but it is also why I'm losing overlords. It takes to long for the nydus to drain.

Two then maybe three if needed spore crawlers should be feasible, but oddly enough my fast expand end game at T2 strategy is mineral limiting, not gas. The four extractors keep me gassed up for mutas/hydras.

7 times out of ten the enemy wont see a fast expansion until it's too late. Just dont use the natural expansion. It takes a paranoid amount of scouting to catch it. My biggest weakness apart from overlord harass is 9ling builds, but I can generally get a spine crawler out fast enough to be safe.

If you are going for mutas and you dont have 2 queens by the time he gets vikings, you'r doing it wrong.

Against Vikings, get 2 or 3 queens (2 at main, one at expo) and just mantain your ovies in your main and spread creep. Queens will kill vikings way faster than they can kill an ovie (I assume he's going in with 2/3 vikings, not 6).

Past the first 2 or 3 vikings you should have your mutas out and rape em.

Very good point. When they wait for 6 viking I already have the mutas/hydras to deal with them. It's always 2 or 3.
