Well, for all the noobs here who just finished their placement matches! Results: 1v1: Gold, Rank 71 2v2(Randomn): Silver 69
I played one match, then fled back to the ai to practice in being faster. ^^ (hey, it's only my first day)
Got gold in 1v1. I gave up on 2v2 random so I haven't done it yet, and my friend/2v2 partner is really bad, so I have put off playing with him.
Got into platinum (win all 5 placements) most of the time.. I was in Demuslims league once too =) But now i'm working towards gold..
1v1 - SILVER 5 placement matches is retarded. You have to win all five to make platinum. Just because I got screwed in 2 matches doesn't mean I shouldn't be up there. Should be based on APM as well. I've placed platinum 4 different times, go Silver this time... lol
IMO placement matches mean nothing, because in the end the system is going to move you around based on your apm and wins against certain opponents. My friend got silver in 1v1 placement, and played one more match and got promoted to gold due to probably beating a high gold and apm.
Having palcement based on more APM is not a good idea in my opinion. Because at times smarter though less APM can easily beat more but dumber APM.
lol, i haven't done my placements yet. But I played one of those "novice" games full of rocks... and I was like "cool, i can take it easy". So I was massing a good economy and teching nicely (as rushes are unlikely) and this clown jumps into my base like 5 mins in with 6 reapers... byebye mineral line. gg, man I hate having to play on the Korean server hahahaha these guys are so damned good. I'm gonna place in Copper i can see it
am I the only one who thinks 90% of the Battle.net population loses their placement matches deliberately?
lol, as much as its fun pwning ppl who are way worse than u, we all know gamers love their ego more than anything
Finally got to my placement matches. Placed into Gold league 1v1. About appropriate. Although before the reset I went on a losing streak and dropped to Silver, even though prior to that streak I had been about 50/50 W/L for my matches. It'll be interesting to see if I really belong in Gold or if Silver was the right place for me.
That's it. I am sure, the ranking system does not work on a APM-basis. But the system as we have it now is also not the best. A system like the ELO ranking system would be better in my opinion. But I read a nice article about the problem, that Blizzard wants to keep this bronce-silver-gold seperation. Well, in the end it's just the Beta ... let's see, what we get on the day of the release. P.S.: My first post here. Hello SC2F-Community!
And congrats for a good first post. And not a toll-ish one like many of the other recent first time posters here of late.
