In the section of the gameplay video with the Banelings and Colossus, I noticed that the Colossus did not regenerate shields while it was running from the Banelings, there was no recharge for quite a while, but when it kicked in the shields started to regenerate fairly rapidly. Also, when the Mothership was being operated, whenever the shields took damage, it took a while before they began to regenerate again. It seems that shields can't regenerate while a unit is taking continuous damage. If nothing else it would decrease the Protoss advantage in micro situations where players bide their time as shields recharge.
I don't know what to say... My mind just can't think of whether it's good or bad, but I know it sounds more realistic. However, they should introduce a "no regeneration for x seconds after taking damage" for the Zerg as well to balance things out.
Maybe if your shields are 0, it takes a little while to start up again, but after that, it will be a continuous recharge?
Nice observations there 10Neon. I suppose a protoss's unit's shield regeneration should happen immediately. probably blizzard hasn't finish all the fine little details yet.
It would give people fighting Protoss one more reason to apply constant and/or finishing pressure in an attack. And it would DEFINITELY encourage me to build Shield Batteries, if I had access. In the middle of attacks, KNOWING the shields would not be regenerating during the assault, I would probably have it down so far as timed. This will also make Protoss more confrontational for sure... they will do less kiting and get to business. Now my question is... do the Zerg get that same delay for their HP healing abilities???
