Well to start off, i'll talk about mine.

Here in england we get a visitor every Autum that i can only really describe as: the scariest thing i have ever come across. The house spider. Now usually im not scared of insects, im fine with bee's, wasps, beetles, ants, hell i have even held a tarantula with a smile on my face.

But when it comes to these things, im a little girl. For some reason whenever i encounter one im left pumping with adrenaline, and it doesnt help that they seem to love crawling on your damn covers while you're half asleep at night.

One time i was in the bath minding my business, when i turned to my side only to see 2 MASSIVE legs about 2 inches away from my face. I went freakin psycho and was on the way out the other end of the bath only to fall on the floor due to a power cut while everything was in complete darkness. I eventually found a towel and made my way into my bedroom to get a torch, but damn, it was scary.

So yeah a picture of what the beasts look like: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/uploads/monthly_10_2007/post-10052-1191676904_thumb.jpg

Do any of you have a phobia or a fear?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l2TjQSYCxE - THIS is phobia...
Personally... if I was to have any phobia it would have to be fear of mold. I cant stand it, its not like I would run away screaming or vomit but I certianly dont want to touch it and people who through away only part of moldy bread and eat the rest make me feel... sick...

I love house spiders, I kept one as a pet. Anyway, I don't think it's a phobia but... I can't stand strawberries. I see one, I feel sick, I smell one, I feel sick. I can't even poke a strawberry nonetheless taste it. I'm not horrified of them, I just think they are the grossest things ever.

PS. I hate it when people eat strawberries in front of me too, the seeds and red marks all over their teeth eeeeeeeeeeee..... (cringe)

I have a major fear of heights, i mean, when i get up there. I grab on to a pole, or stay in the middle of the thing. It takes me like 5minutes to confront the fear, only just to stand next to a gate on a balcony of a 3 story building...

It's not funny having fears. That show was a bit of a let down to american TV.

I used to be real scared of dogs, I think it was cuz I got 'attacked' when I was young, and how dogs would always chase us randomly, ****ing pits.
But I'm over that now, I used to be scared of most spiders, now its just those big black hairy ones. Ahhh.

@ Inside sin: Yeah im slightly scared of hights, not to your extent but. yeah if im high up and someone touches my back or anything while im looking over a drop i usually freak out.

@Psionicz: Rofl idd, dogs tend to continue to chase you simply because you're running. Like a thrill of the hunt sort of thing, even if they are only playing :(. Ofc this can be damn scary sometimes as some dogs get carried away and when they catch up tend to ATTACK the prey! :p.

Oh right... heights arent also my speciallity. Everytime I go sightseeing in some tower or church I always stay as far from the stair-rail as I can. I just cannot imagine hanging over the stair-rail as other people are.

(Oh... when I was in Paris, climbing up the Eiffel Tower was horrible xD especially with the stairs being able to see through so you saw the ground - 200m beneeth you.)

I can't stand cucumbers, shrimp, calamari, and just about any kind of seafood there is. It's not that I'm allergic or anything, just the smell of those makes me sick.

I have a lake phobia. It's just that lakes are murky, full of weeds. *shudders* I can't swim in them for long without having a panic attack. One time my parents threw me over a boat in a lake, then drove off as a joke. I had a hard time staying afloat I was thrashing about so bad.

Funny thing is, I love the ocean and pools...

EDIT: Oh and around here we have alligators, another reason to fear the lake.

What? You don't like lakes? I went to Lake Tahoe a couple months ago and it was awesome! No weeds or dirty water!

    Back on topic,
I can't stand roller coasters at all. So whenever someone tries to take me on a roller coaster I just do anything to not go on it. It's not like I'm scared of heights, either. I'm perfectly fine with heights, and I love flying. It's just roller coasters. I hate that falling sensation.

Lol I got it on the bone of my ankle. I believe one way to get over a phobia is to do that fear. But in the case of bees and wasps, just stay in your garden while its hot, stand by some flowers next to the bees that pass by, sooner or later you'll realize they are not out to get you.
And bees would only sting you if you was a danger to their hive, in which you have to be close-by.
Wasps will sting if you danger them since they can sting and not die.

I was stung by wasps few times when I was a kid but luckily I didn't get any lasting fear from it. But I still dislike them like any bug/spider/whatever.
Generally I hate everything that's like ten times or more smaller than me yet potetially could kill me or hurt badly.

As for heights... I don't have any problem with heights, it's going down that I used to fear panically. I could climb up anywhere but when I looked down it suddenly didn't feel like a good idea anymore.
It's much better now, but I still feel really uncomfortable in high places when there's no rail or anything to hang on to. Though It's fine when I there's something I can grab and know it won't fall with me if I lose balance.

That's about it, I don't think I have any real phobias but I'm extremely easy to startle, which is really annoying.

btw. If you get stung by a wasp try cutting an onion in half and put the inner side against the wound. I did that once and it didn't swell at all
