    policy or ID debate?

Don't know the definitions of those two.

anyways, I don't agree, it think it's futile to offer these options if they are either immoral or moral.

Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is meant by policy or ID debate?
To answer the other part of the question I do debate and to brag a little I've recently returned from Shanghai from international debating and general knowledge competition.

It's a type of formal debate that's popular in Highschool and college. It takes a lot of work and effort, and I like doing it for the same reason I like starcraft, because when you win it really feels like you earned it through strategy. Its extremely competitive and starcraft seems to be popular among debaters...

No I am familiar with different structures of debating. It looks promising but puts me off is the seemingly large emphasis on your speed of delivery. I prefer more of a conversational approach and thinking on your feet rather than standing up and spouting as much things as you could have memorized in the shortest time possible.
Also I wonder if the fact that it is primarily funded by religious organizations affect the actual debate topics...

The speed of delivery is off-putting to people who haven't done it, I hated it at first, but as you get used to it it doesn't affect the arguments so much. You learn to think that fast. As for the religious thing, that's not true to my knowledge. If it is they have very little influence. The topics are always about US foreign policy, and they are proposed and voted on by the coaches. Also within round, anything goes in terms of arguments and strategies, if you think something shouldn't be allowed it becomes a topic of argument in that actual debate, which I think is cool because the rules are so amorphous.
Also, only the opening speeches involve reading memorized things. We actually talk that fast in our own words for the majority of the debate

I prefer debating the way my friends and i do it, we decide by who wins in a wrestling match. The last time we did this i got thrown over a table, good times good times.

No, I was on my HS forensics team (back in like 96/97) and we had various types of competition (impromptu debate topics, mock trial, etc) but we didn't do this specifically. Sounds like fun though.

I did these in my government class in high school. Good times imo, I don't like pre crafted speeches. Definitely a fan of fast thinking and putting my opponent off-balance.
