Porn and Violence

Why is it that sex is considered more dangerous in society? Movies and games that have violence in it can pass lower restrictions, but as soon as there is sex, it is R18+

Like that teacher that got into a lot of trouble because of porn pop-ups... Our teacher screened braveheart for us in school. When it was fighting and killing, no problems. As soon as it got to the aprt where they make love, he fast forwarded it.

What the fuck is wrong with society?

"oh my god, my child saw someone having sex, I'm going to sue your ass!!"

Isn't killing people worse than having sex?

actually from my own personal experience it's the other way round.
at school we watched various movies like romeo + juliet, O, etc that has a sex scene where u see them naked and have sex. the teacher didn't do anything, she just sat there and watched with us.
then when we were about to watch Dracula, the teacher realised that it's rated MA15+ due to violence and horror, the teacher sent our parents permission notes to confirm that they allow their child to watch the movie.
so, it depends, but one thing is certain. sex is a lot funnier than violence

 

What schools do you guys go to? We never watched anything.... Except documentaries ???

 

i go to school in australia....our public education system totally suck!!!...lets see what movies i've watched at school:
- pirates of the carribean, 8 times!!
- shrek, 5 times
- ten things i hate about u, 3 times
- charlies angels 1, twice
- charlies angels 2, twice
- ghost busters, once
- lord of the rings 1, once
- lord of the rings 2, twice
- buffy the vampire slayer, twice
- the fifth element, twice
- the simpsons, errrr 5 times maybe??
- legally blonde 1, once
- spiderman 1, twice
- spiderman 2, twice
OK all of those above are the ones we've watched PURELY for entertainment purposes. no educational value at all....

 

Holy crap, the only 'real' movie I watched in k12 school was Clash of the Titans in sophomore english I'm curious what your classes must be like.

LOTR i can sort of see, at least its based on books. But Charlie's Angels? CHARLIE'S ANGELS 2?

hehehehehe - i told you the Australian Public Education System is as CRAP as it can get

my school? it's an ordinary public high school in Sydney. the students range from very smart and hardworking to very dumb and does nothing in class but cause trouble. But the majority are dumb and trouble makers.

the teachers? we used to have these VERY good teachers. but most of them went to teach at a private school becos there's better pay. so now majority of teachers in the public system are SHIT!!

and Me? i'm on of the smart ones. my academic grades are mostly in the top range. and yes some ppl refer to me as nerdy.

just to give you a comparison, this is how much funding each school gets in a year:
- Public schools = $AU 1,300,000 from state government funding
- Private schools = $AU 3,500,000 from federal gov funding + $AU 2,000,000 fees from parents = TOTAL $AU 5,500,000

our teachers started getting us to print off worksheets at home because the school has a shortage of money to buy paper!!!!!!

 

Shame you can't be in the private schools then, but at least you're making the most of what you have available to you. Don't worry about being a bit 'nerdy', you'll have satisfaction once you're making top dollar somewhere while the troglodytes are still at home working at car washes and the like

omg he/she is so nice........i only ever had 1 teacher that brings in cakes, muffins, brownies and we eat while we do work

 

Our teacher invited us home to him and there we had a day off school just to visit him ;D
And everytime someone has birthday we are aloved to bring cakes and stuff

anyway.. about sex and violence: I guess there is more normal that people are having sex then kill other people.. some teachers are very wierd :-\

 

It is probably because children get desensitized to violence earlier and earlier nowadays while sex is still TRYING to be kept sacred. But if you really look at it, the age the average teen has sex or drinks for the first time has been steadily falling over the years.

If only they would sit at home and play more SC. Sheesh...

 

But there has been lots of stuff about video games and violence lately. I think that they are viewed equally bad.

I think that they think kids are too easily influenced by things. But come on, sif we'll go and shoot people jsut because we play a game that does that. They don't understand that we play games because they are fun and competitive, not because we enjoy killing people....

 

There ARE teenagers AND ADULTS that go around killing people simply because they've played too much violent video games. It's a psychological issue.

 

I would never ever go out and actually kill anybody, but when I am angry or need to blow off steam I do load up Counterstrike or Grand Theft Auto. It tends to backfire though cause I just get owned and then I feel frustrated.

Makes even me wonder why I play em. XD

Well, I don't think violence in games is as bad as sexual content in games. If you look at it, Most video games, even the kiddie ones, have some violence. Sexual content can influence children more easily than violence, I believe. Graphic violence gives a more realistic visualization of what happens when you get shot in the head with a double barrel shotgun. Very very sexual activities in games don't, because then children will think they can score with a woman as easily as touching a button.
