I got into the mac beta and I installed and updated with no problems, but when the login screen should pop up, i just get the pretty background with the spaceship and planet in it and the login menu never comes up. The borders on the top and bottom don't appear either. Does anyone know how to fix this?

That was not needed at all. That's Space Junk talk :).

Firstly what gpu does your Mac use? And are you using s desktop or Notebook Mac? And also check the console App. And also take a look at the Onyx App.

That can help clean your Mac right up. And it helps a lot of times.
And when you start up the Beta app what happens? Does the screen just sit without the login box ever appearing? Or does the app itself freeze or crash? And do you get a little spinning beachball?

It's a little hard to know exactly what's up without know ing what Mac you have and it's specs (cpu, gpu and ram).

ok here are my system specs (i'm on a laptop btw)

    OS:MACOS 10.5.8
    CPU TYPE:INTEL(R) CORE(TM)2 DUO CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHZ
    CPU SPEED (GHZ):2.55
    SYSTEM MEMORY (GB):4
    GRAPHICS CARD MODEL:NVIDIA GEFORCE 9400M

what it does is i boot up the game. it loads up just fine. I get the pretty image of the ship and the ringed planet and the music but no login window ever pops up. I dont get the border around the edges either. All i get is the pretty background. Its irritating.

    Thanks for that.

I have been asking around and a few people has the same issue and for them upgrading to Snow Leopard (10.6) fixed the issue for them. iI's only $30US if I remember correctly. And 10.6 will really help your system in lots of ways including better open gl drivers which will help SC2.

Also I am pretty sure the NVIDIA GEFORCE 9400M is an integrated graphocs card. As it shares memory from the main system. it does not have it's own gpu memory like the dedicated graphics cards have. I've read that some people can get it to work on those settings. So I really don't know what's up here.

    And according to here http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=24630545438&sid=5000
upgrading to 10.6 and then 10.6.3 is the solution. Well possible sulution.

My adivce woult try to save up the $30US or whatever it is in your local currency, but and install 10.6 then download and install 10.6.3 and come back and tell me if it worked. As that fixed the ussie for many people and posts I read on the net.

I'll look into snow leopard (i planned on it anyway) and thank you so much. if you hear or read anything though about making it work with the settings i have now, please tell me. Im spending my money right now on fixing my PC but even that is going to take awhile.
