I am confused. If California passes prop 19 and fully legalizes marijuana wouldnt you still be prevented from growing, buying or selling this drug because it remains illegal under the federal law?

Growing, yes. Selling, I think. Buying, I don't think so.

Anytime you carry a controlled substance that's Schedule III or below across state or country borders, it becomes a felony iirc.

I assumed that part, but would the trafficking of controlled substances within the state also be a problem?

Otherwise you'll run into the same problem as the Netherlands: Your allowed to sell weed, but not to transport enough to resupply, or to grow enough to resupply, or store enough to last a day.

If Prop 19 passes it will be legal under state law to use marijuana. What this means is no local or state law enforcement officer or department will assist the federal government with drug enforcement. You can still be detained charged and prosecuted in federal court by the FBI. Thats not going to change for a while. But at least this way if a police officer pulls you over with a dime bag he won't charge you with anything.

California thinks this is a good idea, but now the federal government will stop giving their state funding for highways and things like that. Which isn't a bad thing if their economy is good, but its very bad if they have to start using state money to pay for their states infrastructure.

Yes... unfortunately California is not as progressive yet as it should be. But it'll get there..
