    Hello,

So, similar to the other person posting about how he ended up in platinum; i somehow got placed in gold (I went 4-2 in my initial matches, but I think that was pure luck) - My current record is 6-8 IIRC. Lost 4 straight last night...2 vs terran, 2 vs protoss.

Both Protoss players went mass stalkers. What I did was; 3 gateways (in 1 match i made them warp gates, the other I did not) and tries a small zealot rush, then a zealot+stalker harrass. I managed to get to the probes, kill some, kill bunch of troops as well and take out a pylon (in 1 of the matches).

However, The counter attack came quickly, which I was expecting via mass stalkers since that is the majority of what he was making.

Here is the issue: When I called the game and said GG, etc. it was still early in his assault, so we had time to talk. He said I should have gone with immortals since I knew he had stalkers.

Ok, now I had 1 of...what's it called, the building to make immortals/collosus, etc.

I'm finding it hard to make a useful # of immortals. I had a couple out when the attacks came and they dropped like flies to the mass fire from the stalkers.

Vs Terran, everythign I had dropped to the reapers/marines and marauders OR I skipped making a forge, so I had no photon cannons ready to protect my workers from teh flying cloaked ships they have. EVen with observers, little help when their marines are destroying the front of the base, and the rear of the base is being attacked but have no cannons to protect it..

if I scout an opponent, and they have not rushed me, should i assume they aren't going to rush and are instead going for mass immortals/MMM (assuming I see these troop types in their base) and instead, create a few zealots but instead of 3-4 gateways, make multiple of the building that makes immortals and the advanced units?

I'm having trouble with the cost of those units. Can't get gas fast enough for them.

I think zerg use even more gas than protoss so can only imagine how a zerg player must deal with it.

    Any advise is appreciated.

    Regards,

    Sanjay

I usually play only protoss, but disclaimer here I am no pro. One thing that is always useful is working that forge into your build after your 3rd-4th gateway. I try to get it before my robotics (facilitiy that makes immortals) so I can put 1 cannon in my mineral line and 1 at my front door. Once I have those key detectors in place I build my robotics. Then grab an observer and try to figure out what they are going so you can counter. Immortas are good counters to stalkers but as you found can be outnumbered quickly by a lotta units. If you know he is going ground they are good support units, but I wouldnt worry about just getting immortals. I think what could help you out in the battles agaisnt all ranged armies is the sentry. Grab 1-2 sentries with your immortal/stalker army. Pop Guardian shield and make sure its covering a decent amount of your units. Hopefully this can turn the battle in your favor against MMM/stalkers. Unless you have charge for your zealots, or the enemy is going with a lot of zealots, i wouldnt get them en masse.

    Advice for mass stalkers.

Tbh, I would really love it if someone tried this against me, only to get raped hard.

Sinces stalkers are weak and clumped up, I would get high templars. They have binks? Get zlots + stalkers. Get colossi cuz of mass. Finally, get void rays. Between focus firing templars, rays, and colossi, they stand no chance unless they micro like a jerk. i would also put a few immortals to (4-5)

    vs terrans.

yes, these strats are very common.
    1) i get obs relatively fast. spread them out for map coverage.
    2) my army is a bit spread and near my base.
    3) blink.
    4) colossi and templars rape infantry. so hard. SO HARD ITS ACTUALLY FUNNY.
    5) tanks? immo + void rays in ur team. btw void rays are good for harassment imo
    6) zlots + stalker + colossi + templar + SENTRY (OMG GAURDIAN SHIELD!!!!) = gg.

Mass stalkers are pretty simple to beat, i only play toss im in high gold so im not the best player but heres what i do,

    9 pylon
    12 gateway + gas

your probe from the pylon should be scouting his base by now, his is crucial point in the game, if you see 2 gas hes going mass stalkers, if you see no gas hes probly going to 2 gate rush you, agasint a mass stalker immortals are your friends,

get a robo out after ure 2nd/3rd gateway and immdiatly get observer

you should save a chronoboost for the observer.

now if your 100% sure hes going mass stalker you need immortals/Senturies/Zlots.

its all down to macro during the battle, make sure ure zlots are infront of ure immortals and he he starts taking out ure immortals ure zlots will rip his army to shread, if he goes for zlots ure immotals with shread his stalkers.

using forcefield to split his stalkers up so there not in mass will help ure immortals pick off 1 by 1 and not get focused, also, make sure ure guardian shield is up, it will make stalker damege suck,

now even a good player who masses stalkers has 3 options, go for zlots/ommortals/senturies whatever unit he goes for you have backup from another, he doesnt.

now, if the game has gone on for ages there is a little cheese you can do to further win you the game, get 2-3 VR's out and when your battling it out in the middle send them yo wipe out his mineral lines/nexus, so even if you lose the battle u still have time to rebuild while his econemy is crap.

    my 2 cents.
