Protoss newb race

    I've been playing it for a week or so and love it. But Protoss seems to be a newb race vs others.

    If you don't kill them before Void rays are out its over. They can out mass teran big time. Even with no armor upgrades they do not die easy.

    People just mass like 6 go to base kill everything game over.

    I tried it and won 5 in a row. Harder to do that as Teran or Zerg.

    Blizzard needs to adjust protoss build time so they cant mass them so early.

    I've actually beat all 3 Protoss players that have massed Void Rays on me (2v2)
    It was pretty simple for me(Terran)
    went MMM, my marines were fully upgraded and they just went through the rays. Not to mention my teammate(Zerg) got Hydras and beat the Rays by himself in a different battle.

    When using toss, I've almost always tried to get a few rays to snipe bases, even won a few by sniping the main base before they have an expo.

    However, once people get enough hydras/stalkers to fight them off, I'm not sure what tech is best to go with against them.

    Yes, marines do ok if they are upgraded but by the time they are upgraded they are dead.

    I beat protoss early with reapers but if it goes much longer the rays are out and im dead.

    How many marines are you talking about? 5 barracks all fully upgraded?

    you need atleast 15+ maries or hydras to beat a force of 6+ void rays. cuz they pwn void rays.

    A couple 6marine bunkers at your choke really can help fend off most early Protoss Assaults. And then later on when they get units that outrange your bunker you can take the marines out and use them in other ways. And with void rays and their tiers of damage, it's best to use a ton of little units on them. Like Hydras or Marines. This is one example where teching for huge powerful units is not such a good counter to a void ray rush.

    I'm really tired of the heat Protoss are taking lately... yes, people abuse Void Rays, however, it's perfectly possible to win as Protoss without them. They are not a "newb race">=\

    exactly...protoss are not over powerful what so ever.

    For me the only thing OP'd about the Protoss is massing carriers. Like 10+ of them. But the cost/time to buld that makes it very hard to actually achieve in game.

    I swear most of my games never even get to air stage...normally its over by the time I get immortals out and crush base defenses with em....or before that with stalker/zealot/sentry combo.

    I will say that void rays are very useful, but honestly if the protoss has void rays out...where are your vikings, or marines, or mutas, or hydras? They have plenty of counters, no the worst thing you can do in starcraft 2 is have bad information.

    Ask yourselves these questions....

    Have I scouted thier base in the last 5 minutes? If not, do I know which way my enemy is trying to tech?

    These are fairly easy to find out with harrasment that you should be carrying out in your spare time.

    Does the protoss player have stargates stacked in his base early in the game?
    If so, he is most likely going early void rays, counters are to rush the early tech...or build a counter to void rays.

    In addition knowing how each unit operates gives you some leeway in how to deal with them. Void rays are pretty easy...dont fight them once they are charged up, you can intercept or fight them midfield and run (if you use faster units), or sac a few units and escape with the rest. And keep thier power levels low while taking down thier numbers...they aren't nearly as powerful when they dont have time to charge thier weapon.

    In conclusion to the8thshark, honestly whenever I've gotten to carrier tech they are always inferior to the battlecruiser/viking/ghost opposition...carriers make for great harrasment and base attack...but they are weak against the other tier 3 airships (at least as far as terran are concerned) Normally I counter with mothership/void rays/ and high templar...but it just comes down to micro at that point.

    Well void ray is the only great trick protoss have against terran. If they do not do it, most terrans will overrun them with MMM. Just learn how to scout properly and practice defending from voids because if they are not going to void rush you then you practically won with MMM.
