So I have recently re-installed Zoo Tycoon 1 and Roller-coaster Tycoon 2 on my PC, old classics good for endless upon endless hours of fun/time-wasting. Especially with downloadable content, made by the fan community. It's a shame that new games have graphics that are too refined to be matched by random community members. I myself would certainly buy games with some lesser graphics if there was a possibility for a fan community to create their own stuff.
I would also buy old games upgraded for new times. Not with graphics, but instead with coding and game-play.

Post upgrades for games, that, if implemented, would make you buy the games again. Add new ideas to other peoples lists, or comment on why their ideas would be silly. I'll start with the two games i mentioned earlier

    Zoo tycoon:
    musts:
better zoo keeper AI, so they don't slowly walk out the exhibit before returning to clean all the poop that was lain while they did the slo-mo walk.
Assigning any workers to area's, not just exhibits, so mechanics don't walk around aimlessly and you can divide an exhibit between two zoo keepers.
Capacity for more custom content, the game starts crashing if you put in more then 450 files
Putting downloaded fan and official content into many separate custom folders, it really becomes a hassle when you get too much stuff
No more buildings on top of roads, it can get confusing whether you are supposed to do it or not.

    Also cool:
Covering exhibit's with a roof and putting flying animals in them. Might make this sell-able as an expansion set
super-small exhibit cages, possibly replacing the reptile building and the sorts

    roller-coaster tycoon 2:
    musts:
smaller assignable areas with height option. It happened to me all too often that I wanted to assign someone, but the area also included a place you needed 30 minutes to walk to
    Deeper underground.
    repairable rides
An editor that actually has capacity to select stuff. Seriously, you can't even pick the entire future theme, and that's the smallest of the expansion themes.

    also cool:
more than 1 music for carrousels

    Comment or add your own.

Nay for carrousel music or the unnecessary apostrophe in the title. I remember RCT2 and had quite a few hours of fun with it. Now, for your assigned area problem, why not just add stairs so the staff can go there faster? Stairs don't always look nice though and can easily block your view, I know. Happened to me often. But that's what I always did - put stairs and hire another person.

    grammar soviet :p

the problem is more with underground and about a 100 yards higher being the same area. It takes a ridonculous amount of time anyways. You could be right about the carousel music, it's classic.

I wish they'd remake the original Myst. Man. I spent hours and hours playing that game.

    -Theme Hospital
    -Dungeon Keeper

River City Ransom (called Street Gangs in Australia and Europe)
That was a NES game. But it was re-released for the GBA with updates. But the updates and new graphics were fun, did not really improve the game. I'd want to see skills training, as in skill books got better as you used them, the ability to join a gang, having your gang fight other gangs, and just more areas to explore really.

    Secret of Evermore
That was SNES game. And it was great. It only had 2 bad points. It was way to easy. And secondly it was way to short. So I'd love to see a remake that added in extra areas to explore, made the monsters harder to kill, limit the level of alchemy spells. The idea you can level a spell to level 9.98 before you get to the first boss and that level 9.98 spell is powerful enough to kill anything in the entire game is kinda pointless. I've definantly rebalance the spells so there is a point to using the more powerful spells you get later in the game.
Also a couple of spells in the game like reflect and the time stop spell I'd remove from the game, when you get them, they have almost no use, they are utterly pointless. I would really love to see a fixed up remake fo this game.

    Terranigma
Originally made for the SNES. Actually for me if this was re-released as is for the DS or something I'd buy it tomorrow. As is that game is quite brilliant. And one of the best story lines I've ever known of in a game. But hmmm how could it be improved? Touch up the graphics a little maybe. Reduce all spell ring costs to 1 magirock each. Or maybe each ring once you buy costs a lot, has unlimited uses but can only be used once per screen. So you can't spam the bosses with them. Just odeas cause I've never seriously used the magics in that game. They suck and the game is easy enough without them.

    Master of Orion 2
A Mac/PC game. They so need to make a improved version of this game. Simply cause the original was so awesome. And I don't mean like the POS that was Master of Orion 3. Game 3 was like a improved remake of the first game. And in my opinion game 1 and 3 both sucked. But game 2 was really awesome. But in the new version I would, remove the caps on maximum research/money/food/etc per turn. I would expand the custom race selector so you could have way more interesting racial traits. I would keep the glatic news network. That rocked. I would enhance the antareans or whatever NPC alien race the new game has. I would make defeating them not a way to win the game. But I would give the race that defeated them some really cool tech cause defeating them is really hard. I would give the option to not partake in the glactic federation (used in the progonal game for the way to win by election). And I would also add in being kicked out of the federation if your race is a really evil one. And lastly I would have some of the tasks in the game automated. Well I'd have the option of automation. Cause having to click yes build this 150 times (once per planet) every few turns is really annoying. But I would not remove the click 150 tmes thing as there are times where that is useful.

    ****************

And to comment on the above I'd like Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 remade. Just cause they are 2 of the weirdest games ever made.

    Mutant League ANYTHING!

Maelstorm mention a number of good ones. Gunstar Heroes, how I miss you.
If you liked the Dungeon Keeper games, they sorta did remake those as Evil Genius.

EDIT: oh yeah, I want full 3d Sim Tower.

    Oh. Wait.

Srsly though, I think an Incredible Machine remake would be pretty nifty.

is the live-action disney a separate arm of the company or something? i don't think i've ever seen a single live-action disney production that i liked. i also assume that rollercoaster tycoon will be live-action.

I expect a rollercoaster which makes 95% of people who go on it vomit...and i expect everyone who walks by that vomit to vomit.

Some umm "Looks to huge shelf to left" lots of games i would say have been made into remakes but all of them are fairly terrible :S

    Disregarding any horrible sequels
    Total annihilation

    C&C

    Chrono Trigger

    Populous 3

    Tyrian

    Black and White

The zombinis (to save the logic of the next generation)

    Cyberstorm

    Mechwarrior

    Transport Tycoon

    Homeworld: Cataclysm

    Tribes

Actually looking back at that list....I don't wany any to be remade unless its by the original guys (Or what they were like when they made the game..."glares at lionhead, westwood and Sierra" ...)

Homeworld Cataclysm wasn't that bad, and B&W 2 was actually much better compared to the original.

    Are you KIDDING?!
Now, I may not have any credit since I haven't even played the game, but I watched BW2 very closely so I think I know quite well how it works.
It doesn't. It's just a simplified RTS and woo you get a creature in there, yay. Instead of making good on their promises of even more incredible Creature AI, they threw out the window one of the most appealing aspects of BW1 and replaced if with thick fur - go graphics!

I didn't say they lived up to their promises, but it was a whole lot better then B&W 1.
That game was just plain crap.
