Make fun of it all you want, I still feel threatened by it. Conficker was the first of it kind, United States Homeland Security has a reward of $250,000 for the capture of the maker. Although I know Conficker itself is no longer a threat, all it takes is someone making another worm similar to it and the threat happens again.

This sounds a little unreal...but creepy at the same time....What was the purpose of Conflicker? And so the count down for Judgment Day begins....

No one knows what Conficker does. It was thought to be an April Fools Joke but was stilled monitored. The worm originally was picking a site one at a time randomly from a list of 250 websites waiting for contact from it's creator. On April 1st it expanded the database to include 500,000 websites and randomly picking, I believe, 500 at a time. Waiting for contact from it's maker. That's why computer security companies are treating this serious, because it could mean a new breed of worms and viruses that are more dangerous then current ones.

You guys dont seem to realize that it was all a huge Hype that gave the person the media attention and the world attention he wanted.

You shouldnt be threatened by this worm/virus w/e.

There are hundreds of people who have there own private botnet's all around the U.S.
As a matter of fact, about 15 - 20 people on Battle.net USEast have their own botnet's. Its nothing to be scared of.

You can easily destroy or sever your computer connection with the botnet by simply reformatting your computer when its time. A simple AV and a firewall will do the trick for most people.

Dont be so gullable, conficker is ez pz lemon squeezy. just another spyware to be wiped

I kinda stopped reading when they started talking about the mafia and all that crap. Having such a network is bull****, even in a movie. If this really was a threat, all people would have to do is disconnecting their pc to the internet. That stops any network, no matter how advanced it is. No virus can somehow put that cable back into a computer and prevent people from just using a new hard drive. -and destroy every infected one, of cource-

This kinda looks like some sort of media thing. Hmm. Terminator 4 gets the biggest media hype ever?

I was treating it serious because Microsoft update installed a security thing for conficker, plus my virus protector (zone alarm) had me update it to a newer version to combat conficker. that's why I'm treating this serious. Also I'm sure the person who made this is now suffering with Homeland Security out looking for him.

Aurora I am assuming the quote Fenix posted is a joke from another site and not something a worm actually posted...

ijff whoever created the virus probably has almost every major national security organization after him, whether is be a european or american organization. Also, personally I would be more scared of the CIA versus Homeland Security.

It always seems like the more notorious the person is the more we screw up. but if the person is low on the totem pole then the US does pretty good.

The point of going after the low guys? It kinda makes you feel good to know you got some one. Better to come up with a few names then come back empty handed.

I agree with you fool heartily. Thats why people hate America, it's because we think we are bigger then every one else. I think we need t mind our own business unless someone asks us for help. then we help and should leave when they say they don't need us any more.
