Hey guys! I'm not so new to the SC world, but havent really started playing it until I bought SC2, though a friend let me borrow SC:BW for a bit before. I love the lore and the stories of StarCraft, and am very fond of the Protoss. Playing the protoss is awesome, but as I said, I'm a total noob to playing the game, I am used to "slower paced" RTS's like Supreme Commander (which is a great game). I find Medium difficulty AI somewhat of a challenge, and have been practicing that way. I've been trying to watch vids on protoss tactics to learn, but kind of at a block. I like the 3-gate and 4-gate tactic, that just builds zealtos/stalker and attack with a bunch of those (and a couple immortals) I usually block entrances to my base with the 3/4-gate tactic. anything else I need to learn about playing protoss or any holes in my play style?
Post a replay on the site so we can see one of your games. It's hard to shoot in the dark and no one wants to have to work that hard to help you out. There are tons of threads out ther efor you to read that have already been posted. To post a replay, play a game and save the replay on the score screen after the game is over. Then come on here, click reply, then click "Go Advanced" below the text box. Look for something called manage attatchements and click browse. Should open you up to your documents where SC2 is at. Click on it, click on accounts, then the folder with all the numbers, then the next folder, then replays, then saved replays. Fine the replay and select it then just post it up. IF you post the replay I garantee there will be people helping you out bro. Pro's like noobs that help themselves.
My name on the game is UnLocKeD and my character code is 905. Add me on SC by clicking add friend on the friend list and then clicking add character friend and enter the info. You deffinetly could use some help. xD - In Starcraft 1 you couldn't rally workers to the minerals, they would simply go to the minerals and stop doing nothing. But in Starcraft 2 you can. If you rally your Nexus, Command Center, or Hatchery/Lair/Hive to a mineral line or gas the workers will go to said place and begin to mine. Right after you hit E to make a probe, and then send your units to the start mining in the very beggining of the game you should go back to your Nexus and rally it to the minerals and keep it there. Having an idle probe, even if it is for a brief second while you try and select it, it's time wasted. - Eventually you either caught it or figured it out as you went, but it takes 3 units to mine gas at the most proficient rate. - You made your worker after you sent your workers to the line. Usually you want to make a worker first then send your workers to the mineral line. IT doesn't make a huge difference but it's just sorta the way things are done. - You need to scout. Scouting is important. Scouting means you know what units to build and you know what your enemy is doing. Computers tend to go Roaches and not lings. Zealots are not the counter for roaches. Stalkers/Immortals are for Roaches. - When you make Archons...don't make Dark Templars to make them, use High Templars to do that. Dark Templars are 125/125 I think, while High Templars are only 50/150. Sure you could go DT's if you are shorter on gas and have more minerals, but High Templars are better due to their storm ability. - Be more aggresive. If you rape your opponents attack, then go to their base and push. Chances are if you killed their force and still have a sizable one you can do some serious damage or even win the game. - Pump more workers and more units. More workers means more minerals, more minerals means more units bro. You need work and I'd be happy to help you out. Hit me up some time bro. I'll be online soon.
key thing to note about building workers is that if you arent building a worker you should be, as that is all the nexus can make, and therefore should ALWAYS (unitl you get to a point where you know when to stop) be makeing probes, also if you want to play im Toochaos 983 on US sever. as realistcally computers are very good.
I will definitely add you. Any help and tips would be greatly appreciated. Definitely noting HT over DT. Didnt realize the were cheaper. I thought the only difference was their attack abilities as single units. my name on SC2 is the same as my forum name: LoweRider
In Starcraft 2 you need to give character codes as well. You can't just search or add people to my knowledge just by knowing their name. You either need their email or their name and character code.
So I tried playing yet another practice ladder game, and it's starting to bug me. I keep getting into stalemates (and eventually surrender). the other guys keep on building advanced structures for air units and building this horde, and im trying to use rushes and they keep failing. I'm probably not being aggressive enough, but what am I doing wrong? I fixed my economy problem, and followed a couple steps you guys gave me, but im not winning. 0 for 4 right now. should I skip the practice ladder?
Just keep trying man. That's teh only way to get better...practice out the *ss and eventually it'll happen. Rushes are weak, most people who rush usually suck. Rushing leaves you open as well. If you rush and it fails then the person can usually run ovwer you because your macro is so far below them. Play legit games and save the rushing for later games bro. You can just play Custom Map Melee too so you don't have to worry bout your actual record till you're good and ready.
yes skip the practice lader those game feel like im dying due to slow speed. show us a replay, and if you want to play a game i will gladly make it not be a stalemate, (As a side note rules state not quoting more text than writen just an fyi)
hey guys! did a little practicing on hard mode and beat my opponent after the second try the first time I did horrible, but I became a little more aggressive (and had to set up a few defense turrets to pick up from my stumble at the beginning.) but I emerged victorious starting to get a confidence boost and that soon I may be able to take on other players As for skipping the practice ladder, I think I may just do that. here is the replay if you any of you would like to critique my game on hard
IF you havn't played Campaign yet it never hurts to play a few levels, it'll help you out a lot. Helped me out. But in terms of playing other players.. I suggest fighting in the custom melee maps so they don't effect your rankings and league wins bro. I've been busy but I got some time to play now so I'll try and help ya out some whenever I'm on.
There's still a lot of things you need work on bro. And just a heads up..don't put all your gateways on one pylon. xD If it had been any even semi-decent player they would have hit the pylon on the first attack and it'd been GG. Build your pylons all around the gateways to keep them powered if one or two go down.
It's talking about supply. Them saying put a pylon at 9 is pretty much saying place a pylone when you have 9 supply count.
i refers to the amount of stuff you have at 9 supply it will all be probes yes but further down the road its going to be more than that. the key with the 9 pylon is that when you start making your 9th worker you should have enough money to make a pylon about half way through building, you can then make another probes as soon as it is done (almost) then as that 10th probes is done the pylon should finish at exactly the same time and you can make another probes ( usually chrono boosted). this is the standard that i figured out from just having clean macro and knowing exactly when i can get each of these things beyond this i do a 12 gate and thats the end of my supply count, from then on i do things when i can while still always making probes and units and pylons.
