Dunno if anyone else thought of this but with the Terran Science Vessel shield applied on the Immortals wouldn't that be a good strategy. The shield would absorb a LOT of the small arms fire damage while the shield and the immortal's shield would soak up a LOT of the high damage. This may cause serious balance issues.... your thoughts?
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals None yet, because we don't even know if Science Vessel or Defensive Matrix are gonna make a reappearance. And I guess blizzard will do something about that, maybe negating each other?
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals If they do a reappearance I think that Im gonna keep a Science Vessel with everyone of the siege attax lol.
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals I have a feeling that they will replace the science vessel with something new, perhaps a support aircraft, sharing the same abilities but with additional combat features like ability to attack ground, air units
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals interesting idea there so could the defensive matrix be used offensively against immortals if thats the case. ( I think the defensive matrix is wekear against bigger damage than the immortal shield )
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals Well I would think that if you tried to use it offensively, then you would cast it on an immortal, it would absorb all of the energy then just dissipate. I can't remember the precise mechanics of matrix, does it absorb a certain amount of damage then go away or can damage get through it and it lasts as long as it's programmed to last
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals hmm can't remember actually forget the entire idea about using the defensive matrix offensively... doesn't make sense when i read my idea again...
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals well I mean it would make sense if they made it so that the two shields did not stack, and defensive matrix would win out over the hardened shield, and it absorbed some damage but let more pass through, like a partially open window through the hardened shield...but that takes some assumptions and it would be a pain to defensive matrix an each immortal in an attacking battlegroup
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals It would require heavy mirco and al whole load of SV's. Your better off irradicating them (if this still count as organic as dragoons did) or EMP.
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals I don't know if lasts as long as its programmed, but some damage does get through.
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals ok thanks coalescence, so there you have one assumption satisfied, MyWifeforAiur...let's hope the rest are as well
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals I think the idea of using defensive matrix offensively is a great idea, but in this case, I think the shield deflection from the Matrix, even though it would reduce an attack to drop through the "hard" shield of the Immortal, would probably be equal to, or even greater than the deflection made by a direct hit on the hardened shield itself. Plus, units that deal high damage also tend to fie more slowly, so it would not be anything like having a Marine or Reaper attacking it.
Re: Science Vessel+ Immortals matrix lasts for about a min or something. 0.5 damage is leaked per hit. absorbs about 250 damage. matrix have a 'normal' type of armor (like protoss shields) i.e. it takes 100% of any damage directed to it. if you cast defensive matrix (assumed it existed exactly the same on sc2) on an immortal, all damage should be directed on the defensive matrix first, not that both types of shields work in conjunction, so don't think this idea would work (under the presumed circumstances of course)
