If you guys have any questions related to my experience with the StarCraft 2 beta id be happy to help, i'm more of a art kinda guy so i get stuck staring at the beautiful landscapes and models Star Craft 2 offers rather then playing the game and it usually sets me back a bit, xD so feel free to answer any questions about StarCraft 2's art style and if you have any questions related to my Live Stream or Blog feel free to ask them aswell Keep in mind i might not be able to answer all the questions, i'm primarily a Protoss player so ill still see if i can give you my point of view on all the questions, if possible. Happy questioning! -Seradin
What grouping keys do you use? Mine are: 1- Army 2- Spell Casters 3 - misc army 4 - Barracks/Gateways/Production buildings. With the addition of hitting Tab to switch groups, it works well. If I'm feeling good, I'll use 5 for another group of Production 6-9 are my CC's/Nexus/Hatchery. Considering I was never good at SC, and with all the hotkeys on the left hand now, it makes things a lot easier for nubs like me. Also what are your system specs? Just being curious, since you're live streaming as well. What quality do you use and screen size?
Jon didn't get what I asked him so you, as an art guy, might know what I want to know. How far do you have to click from a unit for it to move? For very short distances does it just jerk a little or does it stay in place until the order is far enough for the movement animation to kick in? [...] whether for very short distances the unit "jumps" to the location it is ordered to move to, starts moving but jerks into stationary position in the middle of the animation, or doesn't move at all. I'm thinking in terms of colossi, thors, and ultralisks, where this is more visible, not zerglings.
for my grouping i use mostly just 1 and 2 keeping it simple stupid, i usually have (1) as my attack and army and (2) for my base management. StarCraft 2 is a quick game which requires fast decisions i feel its easier to focus on just the 2 main aspects, now if i have 2 armies for a attack ill add another group. Here are my system specifications: My Streaming program allows me to record live feed from my desktop so i just play in full window mode and record live, it might lag a little during the big encounters but otherwise its fine and i render it at the lowest quality which is close to you tube normal quality and runs it just fine. My computer can run StarCraft 2 probably 3 times over so Streaming is just the element of internet. I didnt quite know how to answer your question to your liking so i decided to record several videos all involving these units you requested, here you go: Colossus: http://bit.ly/asfAIc Thor: http://bit.ly/98ZXsT Ultralisk: http://bit.ly/bm0iIF Hope that helps you! -Seradin
Wow, you are pretty much clicking something like a millimeter away and the unit moves. That is quite sensitive.
Can you show a video with a thor doing its special attack ( forgot what it was called) on an ultralisk, collosus, and a building? I want to see how effective and deadly it is on different units.
Hmm one thing I noticed after seeing vids but it seems that units grouped together part away to create a path for a unit that is passing through and then coalesce into one group again. Does it only happen with small units (like marines which I saw) or for big units too? If so how well does this mechanic work?
I've done thor vs thor and it took em out., I know the Collosus would die, but the Ultra....I'm not too sure on.
My laptop can only play this game at all lowest settings, I think it looks ok (kinda like sc1) but should I cave in after all these years and buy a desktop PC again?
Its very difficult to plan games like that as none of my close personal friends currently are in the beta and the computer is to lame to tech up to anything and use anything other then base units within the first 20 minutes of the game this could be virtually impossible, but if i do run into this during a game ill be sure to show you the replay. Now i have not gone through and tested every single unit but i have played the game and yes pretty much every unit does this, I'm not sure if the colossus steps over them or not sounds like something fun thats for sure hehe. i think it can pass over units but not buildings. hehe or a better laptop? I love desktops and id recommend looking at tutorials and learning how to make it yourself, its much cheaper and twice as effective. -Seradin
It's 500 damage over 6 seconds, and it stuns the unit/building during that time. There's not much difference whatever you attack except obviously if it has more than 500hp like an ultralisk then it will survive. The stun does work on buildings.
I have a question for all the Beta Testers, do you(or have found someone who) actually use LoS blockers to their advantage?
Ive used it to conceal my attack force waiting for theres to pass by me so i can attack them right after they get to far away to render assistance to there base, ive used it multiple times to conceal a Proxy Pylon and pump units hidden inside of it to attack there base. Though sometimes when you auto scout with your probe itll automatically go threw it and some of them are useless on some maps.
how can i get a beta key? because i really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really okay you get the point. I REALLY WANNA PLAY SC2 BETA! and i am still waiting to hear the winners of the april fools contest!?
The only beta key competition i know about is the one run by GameReplays.org. http://www.gamereplays.org/starcraft2/portals.php?show=news&news_id=585477 But if your going to enter it its going to be tight as it ends tomorrow, if you do not make it id say just keep looking for more opportunities to win a key and pray every night hoping the next wave will be your wave Goodluck man! -Seradin
