In Starcraft, when you ordered a lot of units to move up/down the ramp, they would often get stuck and if they don't get stuck, they would go up just one by one.
Will Starcraft2 have wider ramps, and will units be ''smarter'', so when they do encounter a small ramp, they can go up easily? ;)

Yea they deinfitly have wider ramps. In Sc1 there was wider ramps in the modded editors. Also of course the units movement script is improved :]

i think that the option of wider ramps should be avalable but the ramps did prvide a tactical advantage in that you could only send so many units at one time, so you get a bottle neck affect.

i kinda liked the retarededness of the units when it came to ramps. It meant you had to micro them whenever you attacked a upper base, especially lost temple

ya it forced you to use stratagey instead of just massing the base

Either way theres micro involved. If you randomly click them to rally to the mineral area of the enemies base, they will get slaughtered as they come up the ramp.
For Zerg it will be a beautiful thing as the more units in that confined space the better since Lurkers rape clusters.

I'd like to see multiple ramp widths. I've seen super-thin ramps, and wide-as-a-cliff ramps, with the use of non-staredit editors. I imagine (hope) SC2's editor will allow for either a wide selection of ramps, or resizable ramps.

Frankly I don't think they should have specific ramp sizes anymore

Just have a ramp object and a slider to adjust the width. Also bridges should not come in sizes and should just span from cliff to cliff.

I'm also hoping to have ramps that look more like natural terrain aspects an not deliberate bulldozed areas. They ca even be approachable from the sides.

Frankly I think it would be the best if we could have hills so you use hills in a wilderness environment and tiers in an urban type environment but have hills be able to go between tiers and thus be used as ramps

Weren't ramps sized with a slider in war3? All the units were, I remember that much.

Bridges really were a pain in the ass to place in the war3 editor. I like BoP's idea, just hope Blizz saw it.

I'm pretty sure SC2 will allow for all sorts of ramp sizes and orientations. I'm also sure that SC2's unit/group AI will be better ;)

war3 was still limited, even though less limited, as you had to follow a grid system and you couldn't alter the size of the grids.

Yeah, I never liked units movement on ramps. I also hope that we see a wide variation of ramps in maps. I feel like terran were sometimes too dependent on choke points and ramps. I am hoping that the redisign of the terran will help lower this depence and make it similar to how choke points benefited the other races.
