There aren't that much similarities. Gah Lak Tus is not partly organic. Organic disgusts it. Gah Lak Tus does not remain dormant. Reapers harvest. When Gah Lak Tus kills, the entire world remains barren forever. Reapers have a small number of available weapons (though very powerful), Gah Lak Tus has millions.

Bleh, giant swarm of robots systematically destroying all life. Good enough for me.

Also, Gah Lak Tus has organic viruses with it, right? A reaper's only organic part is where they drain power from.

I think those sicknesses were spread nano-bots.

On the other hand, maybe it synthesizes the virus, just to destroy it together with the remains of the world.

That's just cruel. Also, why does it even feel the need to drive people insane with fear stuff, before sending an all consuming swarm of flesh eating stuff down?

The making people insane has a longer range and is very handy in taking out defenses. Earth has quite a few psychics in the ultimate continuity, even among non-mutants. SHIELD has an entire department of psychics, so its save to say Europe, Russia and China have quite a few as well. Professor Xavier managed to creep the **** out of Gah Lak Tus, so it was really a necessary thing to try and take out the defenses.

Just one thing I don't understand. The whole thing seems to serve no purpose at all. Why is the Living Tribunal not stopping it from disrupting the balance and whatnot?

Wrong continuity, pal. There is no ultimate living tribunal. And Galactus (as in non-ultimate) is neccesary for cosmic balance. He om-nom-noms what the phoenix force creates.

Reading through all the ultimate continuity books now. Very solid writing by Bendis, Millar, Ellis, Vaughan and Scott Card. Zimmermann and Carey should try a little harder. Loeb, I detest you for ultimates 3 and ultimatum. Kirkman, you're decent as long as you keep to your own plans. Coleite, **** you. Your first story actually destroyed the premise of all books in the continuity. All your other stories were poorly written.

It's a shame ultimate vision never got a second mini.

edit@fenix: nah, those aren't big things that fly around in space. Aurora just lumps all of those together.

You can buy a Tolkien book for the price of 1 comic book.

    I mean, seriously, wtf?

:| I added the little text blurb to show that my role was slightly different, but I was the same individual. I thought it was funny. Jerks.
