Splintered Reality Theory: Every choice we are presented with, an alternate Universe is created for every choice we didn't make. More likely choices create stronger alternate realities, while less likely ones create more of a reflection.

Yep. Less inflammatory in my opinion though, as I'm not stating anything, just throwing out a theory. Which, according to the Universe Life thread, it's not. But it sounds better than "Splintered Reality Opinion"

Right, but the less likely ones would fade when the real one was presented with a choice not in the other one. So, say I can drink Kool-Aid, or Cyanide. Obviously, I'm not going to drink the Cyanide. However, reality splinters, and in the alternate, I do. BUT!! Since that reality kills me right off, I'm not presented with the choice of standing up or sitting down, while in the real one, I do. So, that reality fades when I make the next choice.

 

Oh god not this. Another philosophical discussion. I wrote a paper on this. It's not even really a theory.
And the alternate universes aren't created in one view of this idea. There are a near infinite number of universes with each one containing every possible event that could ever happen. This would be the determinism view of this idea while what you stated is more of an indeterminist view of the same thing.

Ya, I know on both counts.

But I was shrinking the view of it for a conceptual grasp. When you're introducing the idea, your don't want to go into every alternate created.

that means there is an alternate reality where none of us exist,or at least, not this version of us, and an alternate reality where i didn't wrote this, and one in which i did but differently and....(so on and so forth)

 

Huh...well then, my other worldly self must be not too bright to choose Cyanide over Kool-aid...that or he's extremely emo/suicidal...

 

well this is one of those theorys that discussion gets really random in, such as theres an alternate reality where cows eat chicken, and so on.. but also theres an alternate reality where starcraft exists in real like then =O

 

And there's an alternate reality where StarCraft 2 is already released and lots of people love it.

Ugh, no. Remember, the unlikely ones would fade as soon as the next decision came along that wouldn't be in the alternate! The less likely, the less real!
