StarCraft 2 Beta Images Extracted SCLegacy has done a wonderful job extracting most of the images from the StarCraft 2 Beta, the collection includes images such as Loading Screen backgrounds, Upgrade Icons, and Unit Portraits as well as many other great images. Check them out here! Among these was a first look at the wire-frame for the Protoss Dragoon model that will obviously be used in the Map Editor and possibly the Campaign. Also SCLegacy extracted information from the game-strings in the file StarCraft II Beta .mpq, this includes various dialog that we can only assume is meant for the full game or will be released as usable dialog in the tutorial system at some point. Check these also out here! Enjoy, -Seradin
Now this is noteworthy front page deserving news. And some of the larger background style pics would make a nice wallpaper for my finder. And what you showed does not look like a wireframe model to me. I know SCLegacy called them that. But either they are just a 3D model. Or they are such complex wireframe models, you can't see the wires/lines that make them up. It's hard to tell with pictures of them so small. And my thoughts on the images. 1. The Decals: I think they are some of the new factions we will see in single player. 2. Some of the Textures hint at new factions too. Like the F.E.D one. And the Goraion Systems one. And others too. 3. And obviously the portraits could be new name characters in Single player.
I think it's just the infocard icon for that unit. In sc1 these were wireframe icons. I think they're still being referred to as 'the wireframe' as a label rather than being descriptive. Blizzard etymology.
I see W3 in the icons. The whole thing reeks of "we can overwhelm with graphics so why not". SC icons never had this feeling to them, they were more symbolic, something you could easily picture on a computer screen. These.... meh.
