This batch we'll answering some more of the fan site questions that have been submitted to us. In addition, I was able to grab some time from Kaéo Milker (Producer) and Tony Hsu (Associate Producer) to hear about what the team has in mind for blocking choke points in the game.

Chat with Devs: In the BlizzCon build of StarCraft II, small units were able to pass through certain player created barriers, such as a wall of supply depots at a choke point. After experimenting a bit, the Devs are now testing gameplay with true barriers, which prevent all units from passing through, but will require a line of supply depots side by side rather than supply depots blocking a choke point diagonally. This new design will prevent smaller units such as Zealots and Marines from passing through player created barriers, but will be more costly for the player to build these barriers.

Again, give devs and me a w00t! if you are enjoying these Q&As!

    ---StarCraft II Q&A Batch 13---

    1. Are the Ultralisks making a return in StarCraft II? (starcraft2forum.org)

The Ultralisk figures heavily in our current plans, but as with everything else relating to units and balance, this is subject to change.

    2. Will there be in game voice chat supported in StarCraft II? (teamliquid.net)

Yes, there are plans to implement VoIP into Battle.net, but details beyond that are yet to be announced.

    3. What are the system requirements? (Starcraft-Source.com)

We are still optimizing the game and do not have minimum system requirements yet. Nonetheless, StarCraft II will require pixel shader 2.0 and at least 128MB of dedicated video RAM.

    4. Will we be seeing any hybrid units in StarCraft II? (starcraft.org)

We are planning to explore the mysteries surrounding the Xel'Naga for the single player campaign. In the campaign you will encounter several unique units that would not otherwise be seen in multiplayer. At this time, youll just have to wait and see.

    5. Does the Thor burn out like Terran buildings if it is damaged? (starcraft2.4players.de)

No, the Thor does not burn down like the Terran buildings. It will be like the other Terran vehicles, which are able to be repaired by the SCV.

Right, I know it's still in development but what's the point in these Q&As if they never give specifics?

This Q&A is also useless except for questions 2 and 3 :-\

Well, it is better then nothing.

I like how Karune is doing the, "Chat with the Devs," and giving us an update on those.
On a side note, looks like Ultralisk will be making a return as of now. :)
I wonder what kind of new upgrades it will get.

These Q&A keeps getting shorter and shorter. LOL!! And yeah I agree with kuvasz here. Since they are all subject to change, it is just not as useful. But no news at all lately. Very slow and it's making me anxious!!

I dunno, I like how (currently) the Ultralisk is coming back. It's a good unit, just very un-useful. I don't know anything that can decimate M&M strats like Ultras and Lurkers.

    128 MB Video Card....

See my requirements post. Yet another step confirmed ;).

They need to answer some more meaty questions. Right now it's tidbits to keep us busy.

There is still one question yet unanswered:

When do we get to see the Zerg?

This is the final evidence that the sc2 devs are indeed lurking around this forum......

I'm not happy that they decided to stick with the ultralisk instead of getting creative with Zerg tier 3 ground. They better have some amazing changes ready if they're staying with the ultra.

Thanks for the update Ych9, power up, up, and away~

I am against the retention of units due soley to fanboyism. If it stays they better make sure it is useful.

    I meant the answers.

You know I could just say I work on Starcraft 2 and that I'm accepting questions and I could say "nothing is final", "we're working hard on that", "we can't tell yet but it'll be a big surprise" just as well as he does. :bad:

Its a good Q&A I think. If the ultra is "heavily" in their plans, then that means they are working on the zerg with all they got.

I feel the same way Remy. Like you said, I'd much rather see Blizzard look at other options for a heavy ground assault unit such as the Ultralisk. Good unit, not too useful though unfortunately. Why heavily modify something to fix it, when you can scrap it and make something much better that serves it's purpose.
