StarCraft and Starship Troopers

Now, as we all know, the two are very similar, precisely with the Terran and Zerg opposite the Arachnids and Federation. So, as I was watching them (All in all, pretty dumb movies; I just get bored), I decided hey, what would happen if they clashed!? So, I went through and thought it out. These are with Brood War era lore.

Terran VS Arachnid:

Now, this was a fairly easy one in my opinion. The Arachnids, though they seem to have no trouble tearing through the lightly armored Federation troops, would hit a huge stumbling block with Terran mech. The wraiths and siege tanks I believe would decimate the Arachnid swarms with little to no difficulty. Goliaths would also be immensely powerful, due to the dual chainguns. On the flip side however, Battlecruisers would be nearly useless because of their speed. The Arachnid anti-air, as seen in the first film, is immensely powerful, destroying Federation cruisers in one shot. Firebats would be mostly useless as well, due to the comparitively massive size of Arachnid bugs when compared to Zerglings or even Hydralisks. Marines would be fairly effective, but not horribly so. Ghosts would be alright I suppose. The psionic abilities aren't well explained in the films. Vultures would be worthless, as would medix.

So, Terrans would defeat the Arachnids with little to no difficulty.

Federation VS Zerg:

First off, this isn't the whole Swarm. Maybe a few Cerebrates. I would have to call this one a tie. The Federation does reasonably well against the Arachnid army, and creature for creature, Zerg are far weaker. After all, the basic shock trooper, a Zergling, is the size of a large dog, wheras the Arachnid counterpart is the size of a small elephant. Zerg might have a chance if they pumped out Ultralisks, those would tear through lightly armored Fed Mobile Infantry.

Otherwise, this fight goes to the Fed.

Terran VS Fed:

This goes straightaway to the Terran. There really is no way that the Federation can stand against the sheer firepower of the Terran army. One Marine alone is worth god knows how many MI troops, simply cause the Marine has armor. Bring in heavier things, particularly the Goliath, and the Fed is just gone.

Arachnid VS Zerg:

Same rules as Fed VS Zerg, not the whole swarm. This would probably the most closely matched one. For what the Zerg lacks in sheer power, it makes up for in variety. Wheras 'lings and Hydras would be horribly outmatched by Arachnid infantry, once you get some high end units, Ultralisks and Defilers, then things balance out. Air support on both sides would be fairly matched.

I would honestly call this a tie.

Arachnid/Fed VS Protoss:

Lorewise, the Starship Trooper folks don't stand a chance. One Zealot legion would take down near infinite amounts of unarmored Federation troops, and quite a few Arachnids. Bring in something like a High Templar or a Reaver, and it's just a bloodbath.

 

Lol, Reavers in Starship Troopers would crack me up. So much power. Imagine a Reaver shooting into a cave from the first movie. Or a drop in one of those Federation walled camp things. Also: planetary bombardment.

How about Terran versus Zerg, oh wait...

 

Yeah, it ended being kind of interesting.

The Arachnid are even with the Zerg, yet the Feds can beat the Arachnids, the Terran can beat the Feds, but the Zerg beat the Terran. Go figure.

 

I now want to see a Zealot wrestling some Arachnids.

@Rojo - Yeah, that's actually pretty much the reason I wrote this...I was watching them and I'm all "T'pff, Protoss would eat them both for breakfast AT THE SAME TIME'

 

What if they made a starship troopers book/movie/series that introduced a protoss like race to the starship troopers universe?

 

Then there would be a Protoss-like race in the SST mythos.

A lot of Sci-fi and Fantasy take ideas and different things from each other. Starcraft is actually based on other franchises such as Games workshops Warhammer 40k. They actually wanted to make a RTS based on Warhammer or Star Wars when they first started out but they couldn't get the liscense so they decided to make their own universe based on them. You even see in the early concept art for the Zerg for the first Starcraft looks a lot like Tyrnaids from Warhammer 40k.

So yea I think it would be interesting to see these different franchises/universes come together and why stop with just Starsthip Troopers and Starcraft why not just combine everything sci-fi EVER and make an huge exploding orgy of awesome and 1 billion things that don't make sense. Like Zerg, Arachnids, Tyranids, combined into one huge super swarm fighting against geneticlly enchaned super marines with acid for saliva and Starcraft Ghost psiconic powers.

 

I would like to see a fight between SST, StarCraft, and 40k all in the same galaxy. Now that would be awesome.

 

SST would die int he first months, they're fairly weak really.

However.

StarCraft vs 40k....There wouldn't be much of a Galaxy left after that.

 

Don't forget that the Federation has almost unlimited supply of Nuclear warheads similar to the Terrans.

That might even out the fight a bit versus all their opponents.

 

nukes would only be real useful in the ground engagements, in space the Battle Barge's Gellar fields would easily disperse the radiation while their lance batteries would cut through the fed ships like butter.

 

Honestly, I think the 40k universe would win out against the Starcraft one, if you know anything about the lore and universe you know what I'm talking about. Especially the Space Marines and other factions of the Imperium against starcrafts Terran. Tyranids are basically Zerg on steroids and all Space Marines are beyond super human. Not to mention the Pyskers are more powerful than any Terran ghost. The Titans make Thors look like tiny toys.

Saying Terran will win because they have nukes isn't really a good argument since in Warhammer 40k they have much more descrutive forces than any nuke and defenses that could handle them.

They are also equipped with very powerful energy shields that allow them to asborb massive amounts of destructive damage.

 

Dont forget the killer dogs from Red Alert... Man those could eat a man fast....

Quick correction pancake chef: Tyranids are not zerg on steroids, they are the alpha and omega of the zerg. Zerg should be the slaves of the tyranid, although that would make no sense what so ever.

 

Warhammer 40K is like... 38 000 years into the future compared to Starcraft.

GEE. IT'S LIKE THERE REALLY IS A COMPETITION THERE.

 

OMG Blizzard will form up with Games Workshop / Relic Entertainment and will then reveal that according to lore that Warhammer is the future of Starcraft !!!!
