STD's and that special someone

Alright, the sex before marriage thread got me thinking about this.

If you were madly in love with someone, and wanted to be with them forever, but they had an incurable STD. Would you, or could you stay with that person?

 

To be honest, im not sure i could anwser this unless i was in that actual situation.
Anwsering while you're not in the middle of being madly in love with someone is rather hard .

 

what kind are we talking? a life threatening one or?

 

I can't truthfully answer that either, as I've never been in that situation. It's easy to say yes/no if you haven't experienced what it would be like to be in that situation.

@ Mong0, STD means Sexually Transmitted Disease. Many of them are viruses that are uncurable and will cause problems your entire life. Most common known virus is HIV, which causes AIDS.

 

they're also known as STIs now. Sexually transmitted infections. might be more 'politically' correct, or something. and only a few are incurable. most can be cured if you act soon enough, unless they're things like HIV and a few others. you get them through participating in sexual acts, though sometimes they can be transmitted via blood, or contact with the person. Like syphillis, that creates rashes. if you touch the rashes, you can get it.

It would depend if the infection was a virus or bacteria to determine if its treatable. Bacterial STDs can be treated with antibiotics.

However, almost all viral STDs are untreatable. Only medication for lessening the symptoms. Hence why the common cold is untreatable, medicines only lessen the symptoms, not the actual virus. Only time can heal most virus infections, but the body is unable to heal STD viral infections.

Do you value a healthy long life more than you value the closeness and physical love you have for the other person..

Least thats how I would decide.

 

Yeah, it pretty much depends on the type of STD for me. HIV, then no. Some curable disease, maybe. Like Babmer said, it would be hard to answer it unless we were in that situation.

 

i think AIDS has a "miracle cure"
one guy has his AIDS cured by a bone marrow transplant, doctors dont know
how it happened but i think if they research on this, they may also cure AIDS

as for std and the one you love,
as long as i am willing to stay with that person for forever then
i have no worries, but no kids tho

Uh.

Why should it matter if you truly love the person? Would you shun them because they have cancer? If they were vegetarian?

If you REALLY have to 'do it,' just make sure you wear protection. Sure, it's not 100%, but (A) it's your fault for being nympho, and (B) what better way to understand how they feel?

 

Fenix, I don't think it's the 'they are sick' think. It's the ' they can get me sick' thing. You can't catch cancer, though vegetarianism is marginally infections even if it isn't hazardous.

 

Yeah, I know. It's a pretty hard instinct to over come, even though if you're careful, you can't get it. I think I could probably overcome that though, but that's just me.
