Hey guys. I just want to know your thoughts on how to become successful in life. :)

For me, success all roots down to making choices. Life is about making choices and life is a series of choices. Every waking moment of it, every person iscalled to make a choice.

Every choice we make has a positive and negative consequence. A wrong choice can bring a lifetime of grief and suffering, and a right choice can give lifelong fulfillment and gladness. There is no escaping the consequence that will surely follow our choices.

Every choice we make counts. It is important then that we exercise wisdom and prudence in our every choice. :)

    Thoughts?

Choices do count for a lot, but I think that the main thing is to do things that you want to do. I'm only 16, so I can't say that I've learnt this from experience but it makes sense to me. I would much rather have an extremely low paid a job that I enjoy doing, a great girlfriend or loving family and have good mates to hang out with, than have an extremely high paid job that I hate, no time for a girlfriend or family and friends. Depends on how you define success. If by success you mean have an extremely prestigious job that makes you a butt-load of money, then the second choice is the successful one, but to me, the only successful option is the first one.

Succes is living your life by your own dreams and wishes, not those of others.

You chose to be happy in one thing therefore, your choice made you happy. It's still choices that really matters.

Although there are times in life that you'll have to sacrifice your happiness to make a choice you would not want but in the end, it will ultimately be the best choice you made. Long term consequences matters even if the present seems hopeless.

Well, you are right about having butt-loads of cash sometimes isn't success. Success is a goal that you have achieved through hardwork and determination.

Nice idea, but that wouldn't be the job for me. I prefer playing the game than having to come up with ideas for one.

Are you actively following any? Or are you just seeing how things will go at the moment, and worrying about that later?

Choices do matter, but there are also many times when choice is made by someone else or luck/coincidence

Success should be an internal measurement, not an external one. Too many people think of success as relating to possessing some item. Others work to achieve goals because they wish to be respected, not because they wish to accomplish the goal. Very few people realize that they are capable of doing anything they wish.

That situation is still a choice you'll have to make. You either to choose to depend on someone or depend yourself.

This is good. I like this. :)

Yeah, many people only looks at what is beneficial now instead of what should be beneficial in the future.

josh, I meant the situation when choice is forced to you and not when you choose to let someone decide for you. Though you'll be right if you say that you were led to such situation by some other choices you made earlier.

Success also depends on enviorement in which you're born, just like does most everything in your life. It's often possible to go against odds through hardwork but sometimes you just can't no matter what you do.

Oh okay, I got your point.

Well, like I said, it's still a choice. And the reason why perseverance sometimes is in vain because the choice an individual made wasn't really goal-oriented on his part.

Establishing goals is important, but dreams without actions will remain a dream. :)

You can't change the past, so change for the future is imminent. That's what I live by, so far it's worked for me and I've had somewhat of a decent life.

sorry to say, but we really dont make our own choices... we are all controled by out genes and hormones... we think about stuff because that is what our genes tell us to do. we do stuff instinctively, we have no freedom!

That is one crap concept, and I've heard it before. So you're basically saying that our whole lives are chemical reactions? And we have no control over it so might as well just sit back and accept it? That's just a load of cr@p. The brain has evolved beyond just chemical reactions, it is capable of free will. One of the hardest things for scientists is studying the brain, purely because of how complex it has become. If it were merely a chemical reaction that was constantly taking place, then it would be easy to find out what the patterns are.
