So I am looking for a nice mouse for my laptop for both general everyday use and for SC2. What I would really like is (in approximate order of importance) 1. A good price (<$50 on ebay/amazon) 2. Customizable buttons (Would be even nicer if they could be set different for different applications) 3. Compact (The main reason I don't like mine now is it was a keyboard/mouse set and has a USB cord with a long sensor that you have to plug in. very inconvenient for travel) anything else is probably just a plus. The one I'm looking at right now is: the Logitech G500 which is a bit more expensive than I would like but it seems I could find it cheaper on Ebay. (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G500...f=sr_1_16?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1280822773&sr=1-16) Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
The G500 is a good choice. G5 is also a nice mouse. For comprehensive mice info you can visit this site: http://razerblueprints.net/index.php/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,99/ They talk about many mice not just Razer's. I hope it helps.
http://www.brighthub.com/video-games/pc/articles/15192.aspx there are some to look at. Also, if you want mobile (which comes at an extra cost typically) try the razer orochi
I like wired mouses, wireless ones, unless they're really expensive, tend to lag or jump around. Also, with both mouses and keyboards, don't ever go for super cheap unless you really know the company. You'll end up replacing the thing in 6 months or finding out it has missing keys or something.
Not even. I have a Logi LX6, picked it up for 15 bucks. 1000 dpi, no jumping, and I've only had lag issues when my battery light is red and I can't find any AA's. EDIT: My laptop mouse ran me 40 bucks, 1600 dpi, and only jumps when my sensitivity is too high. Infrared mice are laggy, RF mice are not.
Thanks for the replies everyone. In the end, I think I'm going to try to find a cheap mouse with a few extra buttons. I have gotten by so far with a lower DPI mouse and that is what seems to really jack up the price so I'm going to try to find something with a lower DPI but still with the extra buttons. I'm thinking about trying the following:http://www.amazon.com/Connectland-C...ref=sr_1_9?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1280984999&sr=1-9 its not a company I've heard of and I'm a little bit worried because it runs on a 2.4Ghz freq but it seems to provide what I need for a great price. But before I decide to do that for sure, I'm going to take another look at the resources you guys have provided. Thanks again.
I think standard 802.11 wi-fi runs in the 2.4Ghz block. So, might look at some reviews, see if anyone's had any interference.
I really like my Roccat Kone! It was a nice upgrade from my Razer Diamondback. It's super customizable, from the lights around it to every single button on it, really nice value, check it out.
My personal favorite is the NAGA Razer MMOG gaming mouse. It's designed for MMORPGs, but is great for RTS because it has all the buttons on the side for hotkeys and what not. Check it out here. Naga Razer
Thanks for all the help guys. I ended up getting the mouse that I linked to before. It came in earlier today and so far I've been very happy. The only thing that would have been nice would be if I could customize the side buttons but with no additional software it doesn't look like that will happen. Even though I haven't played with it for long, it seems like a solid decision so far, especially for $15.
