well i played a game with protoss and i was wondering, how do i expand safely? marines and marauders are very weak to zealots and thats what they were doing. they were going a lot of zealots and stalkers and immortals. I expanded to my natural and they attacked. If i didnt move my units out of my wall off, they would have killed my expansion so i moved my units down. but then the zealots killed me. what should i do to safely expand?
You need to protect the area of expansion first with your army, bunkers etc, which is easliy to do if your natural is behind a choked area. Often people will sit near or outside your natural waiting for you to expand, so you must make the area safe BEFORE you expand. It also helps if you can distract your enemy prior to expanding as a diversion with a small push or attack on his mineral line. This keeps them distracted long enough to safely build /move your expo and then defend it. Always build your expo in your base and them fly it out once the area is secure if you're Terran. Marines and Marauders are great against both Zealots and Stalkers. You must micro-manage them though and not let the zealots get too close. Basically you shoot-pullback-shoot-pullback et, so you use your ranged attacks. Stimpacks are your first valuable research in your tech lab too, then marine health or marauder conc grenade, depending on what you're up against.
Well firstly, Marauders aren't weak against Stalkers. They rape Stalkers. Zealots are probably your main issue. You need tanks to soften those up. You should also be teching ghosts. Just one or two EMPs will turn the tide of a TvP battle heavily in your favor. Hit an Immortal with an EMP and it's scrap metal.
