Terran overview. Commando center: works very well with easy tiered tactics, such as mass mariners. Marine: counters very well against every unit with micro, backed up make a devastating force to any enenmy. Easy to combine with vikings, battle tanks, battlecruisers. Fast mass but with only mariners make an economic loss at every target except mass tier 1 zerglings, zealots. Mariners with medivacs: I'm not sure using mariners as your main task force is a good option since you will always get out-teched somehow, and if mariners with a nuke is your main-go, you'll lose since you can't attain map control against mixed units. Mariners and battle-tanks are all you need to fight off any foe aslong as the mariners don't get pummeled by tier 1 units since they melt away leaving expensive (150/125) battle tankers vulnerable. Planetary fortress: Works anywhere very well, Gives you a run-to base which can also be used for starport building aslong as the planetary fortress takes most of the heat from enemy units, while solo units pick the rest off. Battlecruisers: the single best unit according to me since you have the yamato cannon to deal huge damage against carriers with, mass damage with fast 6 dmg missiles. Takes out anti air defenses. Vikings: Awesome in mass produce. 10 vikings beat 10 mariners with only 1 loss. 10 vikings beat 10 mutalisks and 10 vikings beat 10 phoenix. true story. Hellions: Never use these hellions since they seem to suck. But really good combine with mariners to tease zerglings, gives you free zergling kills. Reapers: rapers if you mass rush them, win everytime if you get the right digits in. Marauders: Good against the protoss ******* Mixing marauders and reapers is pointless. Reapers are a one-task force. Marauders and mariners with some battlertanks and you got the protoss on their knees. Early expanding: if you make a planetary fortress you can play the defense with battletankers until you're ready for the battlecruisars and the vikings. Vikings are also very easy to harass expands with since they can land, shoot down all the peons, when the forces arrive you either take off, or go anti-air with them. Win-win situation with vikings. Fun to shoot overlorders. Ghost: does anyone actually use nuke? 20 second land time is too much..but if you land them right at the zerger base then all the zerger will cry noob for a very very long time.:laugh: maybe ghots work well against zealot..stalkers...hydralisks too, dont know havent tried. Raven: NICE WITH DETECTOR THE ANTI-TURRET RULES BUT WTF DOES THE REST DO!? ITS POINTLESS! MICRO THAT ONE UNIT A LITTLE THERE AND U LOSE RAVEN GOLD AND WHATEVA. dam ravens i hate those pesky prottoss with prottoss shields.. terran vs terran: just stress him out with the viking mariners was my plan. he only used vikings. I lost both vikings and mariners..and battlecruisers and hellions, but it was a good fight. btw, commando center always earns u much gold. extra supply = 100 gold mule= ? 100 goldish scan doens't earn you gold but rocks. About the Thor, they suck at anti air, but maybe with some battle tankers, mariners and thors you got a good overview at the whole situation with thorers as tanks and battletankers as dealdamage, poor mariners always gotta come along since i practice them alot. there's lot of fun to be had with enough mariners. Playing terran is kinda like playing chess, you don't massproduce, you maintain. Anyways hellions are pretty pointless. When it comes down to the mutalisks just do the mariners and vikings. When it comes down to the stalkers, just use those mariners and thors again. May edit some. Matt cooper rules.
Hellions are amazing. You must not know how to micro them right (no offence intended). Just an honest platinum player's opinion anyways.
don't let the hellions auto-attack, you have to use their speed and run right up to workers and such to take advantage of their splash. also, raven: the auto-turret is, in fact, its weakest ability. hunter-seeker missile: does a ton of damage with splash. very good at destroying a big mass of small units. point defense drone: nullifies 30 attacks that have some kind of animation (missile attacks). this can completely turn a battle around.
I played a couple of more games and i agree with you both >:l but what i noticed is that the terrans lack the firepower against protoss that we need! ANY strategy tips? tried guerilla fighting keeping them weak, didn't work. tried the tankers. didn't work. dam stalkers.
?Terran is the most powerful against Protoss, you have Marauders... That should be suffice. +13 vs armored? If thats not enough Siege tanks do additional damage vs Heavy units as well. Get at least 3 barracks, one with reactor and two with techlabs and mass Marines Marauders and Medivacs. Make sure your infantry is upgraded and you should end it before it gets to out of hand.
