Anyone else noticing that most people who play TF2 also love Starcraft? I've already joined a couple of TF2 games where people are just dieing over Sc2.

That's 'cause they're both like the same thing but in different genres.

I think some explaining is required here. How is a team based fps the same as Starcraft? (I'm probably missing some hidden sarcasm here, but it never hurts to ask.)

Because both games are best in their category?

Then you should also compare it to Texas Hold 'Em, Tetris and World of Warcraft.

They both step miles away from "realism" and instead focus on smooth gameplay with easily recognizable characters and objects due to a cartoony style. They both have great longevity and balance due to the developers constantly making patches the first couple years and on, even adding content. And if you're bored, switching race/class means you're basically playing another game/minigame, because they are all so unique. Both games also have editors available to the fans which means that great user made content pop up every once in a while.

    And so on.

I play TF2 2-3 hours a day and yet find time to visit this forum if that answers the OPs question. Got my Fancy Fedora yesterday! xD

GMG is absolutely correct in what he's saying. People want games which are easy on the eye and have simple yet solid gameplay mechanics.
