    Thoughts/comments?

I wonder what exactly will become of the 200+ people still detained there.

Torture is against the human rights. So much for a free country.

You obviously never read news. Not surprising. Even the FBI admitted it, jesus christ.

im in a college dorm without a TV. only news i get is the 30 minutes of CNN is see when eating at the school cafeteria, which is how I found out about Obama closing Guantanamo, which my dad worked at about 2 years ago.

He stated that people there are treated better than people in prisons in the US states.

maybe he meant at the moment, since in the past there have been cases of waterboarding and other forms of minor torture.

i read two newspapers each day(not those silly american ones with all their opinions, but the dutch ones that get money for being more objective(not completely though(which is shame(a darn shame))) and watch the news every other day

A very recent one I read was that they used extremely loud music or something to deprive them of sleep.

I am worried that if big business cannot gain a strangle-hold over Obama then he will be assassinated.

    Am i the only one?

there are probably a few out there that are gonna want to kill him(very few though), but there are three things you gotta concider
    1. Obama probably wont be completely out of the influence of corporations
    2. there is a tight security for a president
    3. there is a difference between wanting to kill and killing

I'm surprised locking someone in a complex for 5 years before they have been before a court isn't against international law =S.

    @Babmer
No idea why you think Obama isn't under the influence of large corporations. Its America, it can't run without large corporations =P

Pretty high and mighty for someone who supports communistic china, when china denies Religion, imprisions religious people for practising the wrong religion, even kills them, and seperates families becuase someone practiced their freedom of speech.

If china can do it and get away with it, so can the US, the UK, Russia, and anyone else.

In my opinion, most media reporting stations are corrupt. They only take the best things that will get people's attention to tune in to their station for more money. Not saying this is true but, I think that there really was torturing going on, but not the harsh kind and then after the secret got out, they stopped it but since the media and their big mouth let it out, everyone knows about it and may even be exaggerating things.

Not, really. Any confessions would be in-addmissable in court but do you actually believe they ever planned on using that information in such a way?

As for the closing of GITMO I think its a good thing that it is being done, but on the same token I do believe there are several dozen really dangerous people there that still need to either be put in jail or executed.
