In my story, The overmind does not die, Instead he is freed from being mind controlled and is on the side of good, He decides to change the zerg forever, But a cerebrate named "Arzgoth" wants to stop the overmind from doing so and rallies cerebrates who are also against the overminds wish. Arzgoth orders them to merge into a new overmind that has free will, The new overmind is evil and plans to kill the good overmind. Arzgoth then manages to control a large portion of the swarm and use it against the good overmind. The evil overmind creates a new cerebrate who's mission is to kill the good overmind. The cerebrate has a long epic war against the good overmind and finally the cerebrate kills the good overmind. The evil overmind now rules the zerg and continues his plans to conquer.
Top notch story mate! However, in my opinion, I think it could do with some more Kerrigan references and nude women.

Your story is flawed pretty badly. There is no way for any Cerebrate to be against the will of the Overmind, since they are created by him. His will is their will. So unless he was suicidal, it wasn't going to happen.
So you want to be an cerebrate? And then kill the real overmind and become him and kill the rest of the galaxy?
