Ok, this is one of the most persuasive arguements I've seen in awhile http://www.youtube.com/v/bDsIFspVzfI&rel=1 How lucky do you feel?
It was nice knowing you, i2new. And this video is showing a conceited man who likes to talk about obvious things in a way to make it look interesting. I'm not impressed.
Yeah, we are screwed. He may just be stating the obvious and making it entertaining, but thats what we need as a human race. Do you think the average Joe would even make it 2 minutes into this video if it was just a boring lecture. However, this info could save average Joe's life. However, he doesn't care about it. All he cares about is his little bubble in his little corner of the world. As long as he is o.k. in his bubble, he doesn't care if the entire world is going to crap. However, when his bubble goes to crap, he will do something about it. Sadly, when his bubble goes, its too late to change anything. So, that's why I said we are screwed. it's going to take the entire world to come up with a solution. However, when is the last time the entire world got along? When is the last time we cared about the rest of the world? So yeah, the climate may kill us ( or not, Global Warming is just s theory and not proven fact), but if anything, we will just let it kill us. So yeah, now i think I'm just starting to paraphrase this guy so I will stop. But still, in my opinion, the future ain't looking all that bright.
If nature doesn't efficiently threaten humans, they're going to ruin it sooner or later (probably sooner)
this is a very logical arguement but besides the smiley faces, he can't predict exactly how bad the 2 "bad" results will be.. and we can't be sure of which one is the worse.. suppose everyone starts carring and because of that they find something that would alterate the environement in some way.. it can solve the problem.. but if it doesn't.. maybe the consequences will be worse.. basicly.. the way he thinks is super logical but we can't take a decision based on what he says because no one is able to predict what kind of stuff will happen depending on the decision we take.. now even if someone could predict something.. we can't be sure that everything will "standstill" and that his prediction will stay "valid". I don't know if you understand what I mean.. I'm having difficulties to explain it...
LOL, I know my avatar is EXTREMLY visually appealing, but hard as it is too believe... it's not me, although there is a picture of me in another thread, I forget which, but your supposed to be putting pictures in it, I'll get a link @needcatscan, I agree , it is like Pascal's Wager, but I think that this is a completely sane argument, even if it only gives you two extreme choices, both are defiantly attainable even though they are improbable, at least in the degree he's refereeing to.
Doesn't it kinda mean the same thing? *slaps himself Here's the link to my picture though http://www.starcraft2forum.org/forums/index.php?topic=408.195
I thought we all already established this information and were concerned with the "human" variable: No one will do anything to be in the "yes" column
i liked the video. It made alot of sense, and i dont really care if he's just reiterating what some people think. He's right , we need a video , and it needs to spread.
