By popular request, a Choose Your Own Adventure. Decided to do something different this time. Instead of end of the world, monster, or zombie stuff, It's a psuedo-reality (Rojo gave me the idea with the Valkyrie thing). You, a lieutenant in the German Army, have the opportunity to change the world as we know it. Also, just for ****s and giggles, I'll add kinda an RPG'ish aspect to it. Depending on certain actions, you'll gain influence with certain factions, as well as skills that will have bearing on certain choices in the future. Let's get cracking, shall we?

*DISCLAIMER: I nor SC2forums.org condone the actions of the Nazi movement. I just felt this would make an interesting scenario*

The year is 1940. War has spread across Europe. One months ago, the Axis was officially formed, uniting the German army with that of the fascist Italians led by Mussolini and the Japanese forces far to the East. Caught without warning, Nazi troops are fast advancing through Europe's ranks. The onslaught seems unstoppable. Already, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands have fallen to the blitzkreig, and the rest of Europe is ripe for whomever has the will and the strength to pluck it.

You are Lt. Klaus Aldridge of the 42nd Infantry Division. You personally led a key ground assault on the city of Sedan after your commanding officer was slain by a French sniper, earning many accolades and your current rank. A rising star in the German army, you now have the chance to show off your gift for tactics. Every battle you have led your men into has been considered a victory, with minimal loss of life. Among your men, you are known as Ahndend Engel, or Avenging Angel, righting the wrongs perpetrated against the German people at the end of the Great War.

You are currently stationed in the north of France, preparing to deploy against the British. It is 5:32 AM, October 12th. You are asleep when the air raid siren begins to blare. Moments later, the bombs begin slamming into your camp. Leaping to you feet in practiced maneuvers, you dash to the shelter. Right before you reach it, ordinance flattens it, killing everyone inside. Praising God for your luck, you begin to run towards a gun emplacement, ready to blast some of the RAF out of the air. However, as you run to the AA car, you hear the familiar whirrr THUMP of a tank. They're running a two part attack, air and infantry!

Do you continue towards the AA gun, grab a sniper rifle and pick them off from afar, or do you grab the nearest Panzerschrek and show the British army what it means to attack German soldiers?

Deciding it's best to leave the planes to trained gunners, you equip yourself with some heavy weaponry. Remembering your love for all things explosive, your training comes back to you in a rush (You have gained +1 in Demolitions!!). Loading the launcher with a rocket, you crouch, sight, and pull the trigger.

The resultant explosion blows back your hair. Direct hit! The steel grey tank violently erupts into flame, the turret on top launching into the air. Shoving another rocket into your weapon, you take aim and fire at the next one. Unfortunately, the rocket goes awry and misses. However, the driver was poking out of the hatch, and looks to have been killed in the explosion.

Do you grab your pistol and try to hijack the tank and wreak mayhem amongst the British lines, or do you keep blowing stuff up?

Always a daring one, you draw your pistol and charge the tank. Vaulting into the hatch, you shove the driver out of the way and make short work of the the gunner (+1 Close Quarters Combat!) Spinning the turret around, you launch a shell at the third and final tank, then kick the tank into drive and slowly but surely start grinding towards the British ground troops. Caught between you and the reorganized German soldiers, they're quickly defeated and surrender.

What would've been a disaster for your offensive has instead been turned into a victory for the Nazi army. All in all, the German losses total twelve soldiers, one tank and one anti-aircraft cannon. British losses amount to three tanks, one of which is still operational, and will easily replace the one you lost, fourty six soldiers with nine captured, as well as seven bombers, which the RAF could ill afford to lose. However, these losses do set back the date of the British offensive. Relocation is needed, as well as time to switch around wounded soldiers and restock ammo.

Three days later, you receive a summons from Berlin. Purely optional, through it is strongly worded.

Do you go to Berlin or stay and help the German offensive?

Deciding it would probably be a good idea to heed the summons, you board the next train to Berlin. Once there you report to your CO. Oddly, he has no knowledge of the summons. Perplexed, you leave his room.

As the door closes behind you, an old man wearing a black leather trenchcoat approaches you.

"Guten tag, Herr Aldridge. I trust you are well this fine day? But enough with pleasantries. No doubt you have realized by now 'twas I who sent the summons, not your commanding officer. My name is Adrian Mallard. I am part of a group that performs....special duties for our Fuhrer. Your outstanding military record and your rather obvious knack for solo work has appealed itself to my superiors. As such, they have sent me to extend a special invitation for you to join Die Schwarz Sonne. It is entirely up to you whether or not, and I understand if you wish to think about it. When you wish to inform me of your decision, you may contact me at this address."

The enigmatic man hands you a white card with an odd symbol on one side and a printed address on the other. That night, you spend your time considering the man's words.

Do you join or go back to the front lines?

    Why front lines? =O

Why not rather find out what the summon was about and stay away from the hell in the front lines?

Because this guy's a soldier, the familiarity of the front lines seems a lot safer to him than the unknown of this mysterious group. Plus, the war isn't going to win itself.

    Front lines.

    Agreed front lines.

Fenix, how do you do this when people don't agree? You just weight the votes of each post, and go with the one that has the most, or do you just go with what the first one said?

Front lines it is, I'll update this when I get home from work - it's too early to think.

@ Dark - I generally go with majority rule, or with whoever is is contributing to the story more.
