Just figured I'd create a thread for venting these types of games even though it's beta and not even for real (and even then, 'for real' is debatable'). So here I am chillin in Gold league (which I dropped to Silver before the reset) and I've got a good streak going - so I'm thinking to myself, "hey, maybe you've finally improved and actually ARE Gold now!" Now a three game losing streak due to the following: Game 1 - Zerg (me) vs. Protoss - my attack forces being > than my opponent's, I graciously give up the win by right-clicking instead of attack-moving. *face-palm* Game 2 - Zerg (me) vs. Protoss - decide to be sneaky and take the back way to my opponent's base with my attack. Just then, he attacks me. Me = caught way out of position and still have to get through rocks to get to his base! By the time I get back it's too late. My opponent admits he just luckily chose that moment, it's not as if he scouted and saw an opening. But oh well. Game 3 - Terran (me) vs. Zerg - Doin the usual wall in. He attacks with four Zerglings. My Marines easily fend them off. I lift my Barracks to get a Reactor placed down. The Barracks pushes my Marines onto the ramp. He attacks with another six Zerglings. My Marines = dead. Next Marine spawns but it's too late, Supply Depot is gone. Save myself with SCVs, but that put me behind the rest of the match where even though I put up a valiant effort, I lost. ARGHHHHHHHH STUPID MISTAKES. Feel free to add your vents about Starcraft 2 beta that are player-related here. Argh.
Well at least you know why you lost? Time to get more serious and pay attention and you can start winning right?
Niner, I freaking share your pain. Every game I lose it's because of a glitch in the game. I mean it's not like it's possible for other to people to ever beat me. So it's gotta be an act of God. LOL I'm j/p baby! I've seriously experienced some of the same glitches including the lift-off and retarded supply depot issues. How about the first week of beta when enemy melee units could sometimes trigger your depots to automatically lower? WELCOME TO OZ FEEL FREE TO DESTROY IT! It's beta. Crap like this happens, you learn to avoid it and move on. Besides, losing doesn't matter as much as winning in the eyes of the beta ranking Gods. Winning once against a higher ranked opponent can erase 50 losses.
I start an AT. I send all probes to minerals, select main, hit E. Nohting happens. Turns out the game somehow glitched - no hot keys. I try to tell this to my ally. I can't. Can't type either. My windows key worked. Yeah.... that was a touch frustrating. ________ F2003-GA
My opinion is unless you are No1 Platinum in your division, you should be losing half of your games roughly. If not then the matchmaking system needs to fixed till this is so. And even a loss is fun. Sure we all blame a glitch to our loss. The same way we all blame lag for a raid wipe in WoW. But in reality most of the time it's a simple case of we did not do the right thing as the right time and lost. So better luck next time. And you learn a lot more from a loss then you ever can from a win.
You compete with people outside of your league. The only reason there are divisions is so that you can feel special when you see "Rank 10" or whatever instead of what you really are which is "Rank 9345934758375739475437587375348573497593". Anyways, so unless you're in the top 100 or so and none of the better players are on, then you'll be getting 50/50ish.
When you win, you can repeat your tactic, since it worked. When you lose, you feel like you need to fix something. Be it you made the wrong click, or your previuosly perfect tactic somehow did not work. I had a frustrating time as Terran vs Zerg, where he just spammed hydralisks and ultralisks, and i could make up no counter, as air got decimated by hydras, while no ground could keep up with the ultras.
Lol I definitely have no problem getting beat - I expect it - it's just very frustrating when you lose rather than he wins. It's also entertaining to talk about boneheaded plays. If there was an equivalent Starcraft 2 version of Sportscenter's "Not Top 10" the three plays above would definitely be on it haha.
How about the time my cat jumped on my keyboard and stimpacked my Marines 5 times in a row til they were at 5 health apiece? Early game.
Ugh, just had one of these jerk of a matches. I see EVERYTHING that his happening. It was a 2v2, and the Terran was going either fast Reaper or Marauder, while Zerg was massing lings ready for a ling speed bust. So, I am just building me quite a few marines to hold off. Well, my toss teammate only has 3 or 4 lots...he gets hit with the ling speed. I saw some lings slip by and get a surround, so being the good teammate, I rush out. Well, I see the lings retreat. I knew they were coming for me, so I go back behind my wall. I see the lings coming for the ramp, so I go to raise the depot....A marine is a centimeter over the lowered depot. Open mouth -> Insert ling.
Every time where I'm in a 2v2 as ZZ v PP, I can feel it coming. Sometime into the game, one of us will all of a sudden get a never ending stream of units warped in from the back of the base, unless I spot that stupid Prism fast enough. And it's not like my teammate will ever help me. No, he's to busy making 3254264716 workers. :/ God, I hate those things.
@ CyberPitz, I feel you. It's why I've been arguing consistently for supply depots to raise no matter what is on top of them, cutting off a force trying to cross them. @ Aurora, You're not scouting well enough. Your base should be ringed with Overlords.
lol, I've done this quite a few times myself and its sooo ****ing frustrating will see if i can come up with some other classics
Blarg had another one of those matches today! I was in a tough PvP battle that LITERALLY came down to the last unit. After some back and forth, I finally defeated his main army... but he snuck some Void Rays into my main. I was expecting this, but the Stalkers I left behind couldn't focus down his units before he took out my Nexus (which then left me unable to build another Nexus). I probably shouldn't have pushed (I really have to learn when to back down, but that's another problem). HOWEVER, in desperation I then threw my remaining Stalkers, Probes, and Zealots at his main + expo. Succeeded in destroying his ground army and expo (so now he had no mineral income), and he threw his last remaining Void Rays at me. It was three uncharged Voids vs. four of my Stalkers. I microed them in so I could focus fire, but they pathed between two of the enemy Gateways. Since I had right-clicked to attack, the Stalker in front stopped to fire and the other three got stuck behind him! I moved them manually but it was too late - the Voids had charged their weapons. At the end of the fight, he was left with ONE VOID RAY. When I gg'd, he said "whew" and upon watching the replay I cannot believe it literally came down to that. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
See, that's the big mistake that lost me the match. At a certain point I should've backed away and teched a bit instead of continuing to press. But AH THE LITTLE MISTAKE.
