lol. just be yourself. don't be someone you ain't coz you'll surely be hated by your friends if they find out in the future. lol.
its not as bad as people think, you'll get there and be like "wow, this is pretty much the same as middle school, only better" at least thats what happened to me. also, don't let the seniors make you eat crap.
Start smoking, skip school as much as you can and lie about how much sex you have. That ought to make you popular. I'm just joking, don't do that
Drink as much as possible, that makes you cool, and chicks want to have sex with guys that will provide them alcohol. Also, become a star athlete, then all the teachers will love you too, and if girls love you, and teachers are giving you good grades, who cares about the guys? You can always make guy friends in college.
Start working on ideas for your senior prank. Then decide what classes you will take over the next four years based on it in order to hone the correct skills for the feats of engineering you will stun the world with in the future. I didn't, and I regret it. And don't listen to DE.50: the teachers love the smart students. Of course, at my school, many of the star athletes (and head cheerleaders) were also the smartest students in the school, so maybe I'm mistaken.
I´ll take the part of the minority here: The one that cares about studies. Try to keep your notes organized, if possible according to subject and date. If you don´t understand something ask your fellow pupils, the Teachers and use reference material (most likely in that order). Often subjects refer build up to earlier themes (especially in Math) so don´t slack off or you will regrent it!
Actually I think it is more accurate to say that teachers love students that make them laugh. Also, half the stuff I said was in jest, but it is also kind of true, at least in my high school experience. I also think that high school is easy enough that you dont need to study hard, the only good thing about studying hard in high school is that you develop good habits for college. Basically you will find out that everything that you have learned in high school is useless once you get to college (assuming that you are going to a half way decent college).
Grades>Everything You can always play games later, I have friends who are in 'bad' colleges now and they can even begin to regret high school.
Get a 34 or above on your ACT's. Then, even if you only have a 3.0 GPA you can still get into a really good college with great scholarship offers.
The time between high school and college is the most important time for a person socially, so grades are not more important than everything, social development is. Although that too is a big oversimplification. Like everything in life high school requires moderation, equal amounts of time should be spent of school and social activities, an imbalance in one will lead to a deficiency in the other which can have bad results in the long run. You can't get into a really good school with just a good test score, it is too competitive now-a-days.
There is nothing you can. The will of the school will control your destiny. It takes a special individual to fight against the forces of the school. So my advice, if you do something, make sure you dont get caught, drugs are bad. And homework? Dont bother with homework, in 5 years, no body is gonna give a flying hoot how well you did on your homework. Focus on 'real learning'
I just started high school 3 weeks ago. My advice is to make friends with the juniors and seniors. They've been there longer and know what which teachers expect from you. My theory is that I can get decent grades and not get beaten by seniors in the process.
i read a few of these. Don't do anything dumb. Get on teachers good sides. Make friends. Don't block the halls/stairs. Don't piss Class of 08 off. Do your homework. It'll screw you over if you don't. Have fun most importantly. It goes by fast.
