we get a lot of tourists in Amsterdam, but most of them dont know how to behave, so now, i am starting a semi-serious thread, tip 1: bikes are for transport, not for stunting, please refrain from doing wheeleys in the middle of trafic tip 2: The drug use in the Netherlands is lower then that in most european countries, so do not automatically assume all dutch people do drugs tip 3: Yes, we know we are going to hell, dont rub it in tip 4: Most dutch people speak english and either some french, spanish or german. Please don't try to speak dutch since you really really suck at it tip 5: The most popular tourist area's are also very popular with the Amsterdam population, we have no area's in the city that are mainly used by tourists tip 6: the people wearing cloths from manga characters arent street performers but japanese tourists i might update later
Well seen jiffie ! Twice time the last month I cought tourists in Brussels in my taxi (once they were from New York, and one week later I took other people from Russia, young people). I asked them the same question : "what will you do in Amsterdam ?" And before answering they both hesitated and answered "We're going to see flowers and tulips". Yes, they both answered that ! Two young men from Russia, going to Amsterdam just to look at tulips, and spending money to rent a room in Brussels before taking the train to Amsterdam the next day, and they come to see tulips ? mm mmm nah ! It was for drugs of course. I suppose. There were nothing interesting at that moment, no soccer (voetbal) match too.
