I have been to many forums for Starcraft as well as other games including Neoseeker.com and Blizzforums. Something I immediately noticed about this one however is the large amount of sections/forums. Having a forum for a single thing is horrible for several reasons; The more forums, the more clutter and it is an annoyance trying to scroll down the page for the right forum to post your thread in. To quote those toilet paper commercials, "Less is more."

It's better to have a single forum for multiple things rather then a single thing. It decreases frustration and tedious work. After all, this is the Internet - anything requiring too much scrolling or clicking is tedious work. =)

This is also my first post on these forums, so far it seems nice but I'm sure I'll find something to nitpick about </sarcasm>

First of, welcome to the forums :)

Personally, i like what we have now, keeps everything organised and easy to find, having say, one forum for every race's buildings and units would look cluttered to me with 12 or so stickies and a mix of topics to pick through.

what overmind said. Having multiple topic areas means if I want to look for information on a specific race, I can easily do that without having to mess with threads talking about other races.

I'm sure as you get to know our forums and our members, you'll come to to realize that, not only is this the best place for new SC2 news, contests, and just speculation, it's also a great social spot too, where you can unwind and idly chit-chat with people from all over the world.

Welcome to the forums and thanks for the feedback!

While it's always a balancing act between navigation and simplicity, navigation usually wins that battle. Our mods are more than willing to help new members find the correct forums, and after a few posts I think it's pretty simple to get down pat.

But you have to remember that SC2F will always meet the needs of its core members first and foremost. It's about community, not anything else.

But, as usual, we'll keep your ideas in mind when considering organization. Hope you enjoy your stay!

Am I the only one who thinks this is just a smart advertiser?

It seems neoseeker has at least twice the amount of sections we have, and that blizzforums thing has easily the amount of sections and child boards as we have. :s

Also, he has no contact information and makes no other posts. So we probably have been fooled here....

I had exactly the same feeling but I decided to keep quiet. Also I think you could've worded it a bit more mildly :p

You know, if the space junk is one of the sub forum of The Lounge it would be more organize though, Space Junk is also a "Off topic" forum so it fit perfectly in the Lounge for better navigate. :)

There already is a new forum lay-out. You just can't see it untill after all of the threads have been moved. Although I have no idea when that will happen. It should been done by now. :s Meh, probably has to do with the shop. That had the highest priority.

Who said I wouldn't come back eh? BTW, neoseeker has tons of forums because the site itself was created to discuss all the games currently released on all consoles. Blizzforums, well I guess that was just a bad example :/

But I guess the reason I created this thread is because I hate dead forums; No one likes their question to go unanswered. Thats the big problem with forums, especially forums like neoseeker that have a huge amount of forums - Most of them are bound to be dead. I usually just stick to General PS3 on neo because there is no point in checking if the forum I want to post something up in is active.

I'll try to visit more frequently, right now SC2 doesn't appeal to me compared to other games and things, plus I have to type everything on my iPod Touch >_< But otherwise, thanks for the welcomes!

I have typed hundreds of posts on a regular phone, even this one, bit of a bad excuse. Anyway: I agree with you that dead forums are annoying, but why post links to them then? Please do not try to lure people to crappy sites like neoseeker.
And why do you come in here, bash our forum lay-out and then declare you have no interest in Starcraft? No reason to even be here then, except for the fact that the members of this site are nice and good people. It just seams weird to me, not trying to bash you or anything.

    Also:
    site - forum - section - board - child board - thread - post

Your undestanding of basic forum structure looked a bit messed up. I thought I might as well help, since I am forgiving like that. :p

    1) If you have typed messages on a phone than you should know how annoying it can be at times depending on the phone. The iPod Touch is not a phone, BTW; Your probably thinking of the iPhone.

    2) I wasn't luring anyone to neoseeker. I typed that because some forums don't take new members very heavily. It was just reference. Neoseeker is not dead, not completely. It depends on what section & game your looking to discuss. Like I said, I mostly just stick to General PS3 as it's pretty active.

    3) You misread my post. I said other games interest me at the moment more so than StarCraft 2; That doesn't mean I hate or font care about it, other things just grab my attention more than it right now. When SC2 starts to grab my attention back to it I'll post a lot more.

    4) A subforum is the same thing as a child board. I know I used "forum" inappropiately in that first post there, I thought it fit better than "site."

I would quote you above each number to make it clearer but I honestly don't feel like typing out your post because I cant copy n paste on the iTouch. Not yet anyways.

    Hmm, sorry then.
I use opera mini 4.2. No copy/paste yet, but it works just fine.

But I thought that the Touch and Phone shared the same software for browsing the internet?

Anyway, we have a mobile skin at the moment, that should work really well with the ITouch. But be carefull, for some reason it refused to let me revert back myself. Luckily, we have a nice admin that fixed it again. :D

:/ The skin looks nice & loads faster, but it's missing crucial things like a quote button and a way to choose what page you want to look at before you get in the thread.

The iTouch and iPhone both use Safari to connect to the internet, true, but that does not make a iPod Touch a phone. I'll go search for that OperaMini app (assuming that it is a app) on the Appstore. Hopefully it's free.

    It's kk. :)

Hehe, it seems Apple banned it from the store after they found out it was way better then safari.

At least, my google results gave me that. Is it in the store?
