I'm going to the Philippines for a few days later this summer, and I frankly don't know what I should do. Does anyone know fun things to do in the Philippines outside of resorts and beaches? It would be... appreciated.

wow. really? where exactly in the philippines?

im from the philippines. and i can't stand being here. lol

beaches? i don't know i think beaches here are overrated. anyway i think boracay is the best beach the Philippines can offer.

other fun things? i don't think there are any other things unless you want to experience the culture, lifestyle, weather, and tradition etc. here.

I'm not sure where exactly. I'm not the one planning this trip. :p I think it could be Boracay though, I'll have to check. But what kind of places could I go to see the culture like the art, music, architecture, etc?

there are many actually. if you love to see nature then thats good since philippines is a poor country and the country dont have economy and technological advantages to offer but there are some nice nature environmental sights here.

culture? art? music? there are tourists spots here and you get see and know all those things.

i dont really like traditional customs etc here in the philippines. and im not familiar. i know some but i would rather not recommend them since im not familiar how or what foreigners exactly like. anyway its HOT in here which i hate most aside from being outdated in everything specially on the latest technologie and devices.

Are there any specific historic sites or anything? Or specific nature attractions (mountains, beaches, etc)? I don't know if there are a lot of mountains in the Philippines, but I do enjoy climbing a lot.

besides beaches, Philippines has a lot of adventure activities that you can opt to do. If you're planning to come in the next few months, which is the rainy season here, you can opt to do white water rafting or go surfing.

We also have wakeboarding, scuba diving, mountain hiking, any others.

As for beaches, Bohol and Palawan are other destinations to look for besides Boracay.

Hit me up for other queries.

Well, most likely you would be arriving at Manila. I'm sure you're tired of malls, parks and all that pollution so here's some great spots to visit. Btw, I'm a Filipino.

Try visiting Intramuros. It's kinda a boring place, but you can learn so much about our history about the Spanish regime. Rizal Park is good too. Although it's still a park, it's still worth a visit and you can fool around with the guards and they won't move a bit. (think of the British guards)

There are no beaches in Manila but there is a good resort close. Travel south of Manila for 45-60 mins until you arrive in Binan, Laguna and look for Splash Island. It's a good resort to hang out to if you really wanna take a dip. Although there are no hotels on the resort and not ideal for conferences. It's a place just to have fun.

Boracay is a good place, altough I'm not sure you should take 2 plane trips to get there. Same is true with Bohol and Palawan. Ilocos region, which is the northwestern part of the country, has many famous beaches, namely The Hundred Islands in Pangasinan, famous for its many islands of course, and Suba Beach, for its extensive sand dunes and exciting surf. Getting to the Ilocos regions by car, however, takes roughly around 8-10 hours, although I'm not quite sure if they have an airport there.

A good place closer to Manila is the Mountain Province, which is well known for its vast and scenic mountain ranges and it takes around 7-9 hours of travel. Hiking here is very enjoyable here. This is also the location of the 8th Wonder of the World, the Banaue Rice Terraces. On the Benguet province, which is somewhat connected to the ranges of the Mountain Province, has a well known city on top of the mountains, Baguio City. People prefer to spend the summer in Baguio because of its cool climate.

Whew, man that's a handful. Well, these are just the places I have had the chance to go to so I really recommend going. Btw, you can stop by our house and play SC on LAN with me in our computer shop. LOL.
