It only shows you that zerglings are not a good counter to ultralisks. For example, a few marauders can easily outmicro an ultralisk.
Just proves going mass lings against a zerg who techs isn't a good idea late game. The ultra would have been slaughtered without the AoE damage it does. All you would have needed to do was go range, as the ultra is basically the counter to other melee units. The ultralisk has less armor than the Roach, try to figure that one out.
Well if zerlings had +3 upgrade as well it would have been very different story but yes, they are not op. Very, very strong yes, but they are the pinnacle of zerg tech so they should be.
Fenix is the last person I'd expect to make a serious case with such funny footage...and I'm still new to this forum.. So why is it most of the replies are offering counter-arguments/units to beat an Ultra rather then taking this topic for what it is suppose to be?
or discussions at all. so anyways HERESY, ULTRA GODLIKE, ULTRA RULE ALL. BWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
^ If Ultralisks are this badass in SC2, one has to wonder what the hero version will be like. Just imagine; a 2000 HP Torrasque with 10 armor and 50-60 splash damage...
I don't really wanna imagine that. And yeah, only 10-20 zerglings are attacking at a time due to hitboxes, but how many other units could stand up to 10-20 units attacking it for however long it takes to almost kill 800 of them? Remember, these are essentially cracklings in the SC2 sense, just without Attack and Armor upgrades, yet the Ultra not only shrugs off the punishment, but one hits 5-7 at a time. Yeah, this is SJ cause I found a silly vid, buuuuuut it raises a valid point. I'm usually not one to yell NERF at everything, and I even play zerg about 40% of the time, but seriously, something is unright. /serious post ZIP ZOP ZOOBITY BOB
Now I feel I'm getting trolled into this buuuut - isn't that mind set the same as saying Zealots stink vs Air units...so clearly something is wrong? I mean, Zerglngs with no upgrades vs Ultraslisks with full upgrades...it's just as silly as attacking air with non-anti air units. Zergling vs Ultras is a unique unit vs unit ordeal...find me another unit massed around it with no upgrades that takes as long to kill it. Granted I think the next closes will be Zealots...but the point remains that some units clearly were never meant to attack another; it just so happens this is the rare case where Ultras can act like a [air vs non-AA unit], yet in this scenario where clearly the other unit can attack it...just very unrewarding. If I could make a serious notion though, I do have issues with the Ultra as a Zerg Player...and that's because it's current role is ether extremely effective, or it's just a waste of resources due to how fast it 'can' die. It doesn't hold a very solid middle ground...though I wonder how many other units can as well.
This is a situation where near infinite units can be thrown against it with no result. 800 units and still more than 50% health? This is melee vs melee, not melee vs air.
Fenix - it's a mere riddle in your head. It IS like a Air vs Anti-air scenario. This is in part that these units, Zerglings/Zealots and a few others granted upgrade difference will just flat out be worthless vs this beast; it was meaningless to send them into fight such a threat as though they were trying to attack air when they couldn't. Banshees/Brood Lords can't attack air...Infestors and Templars can't attack at all(with-out casting a spell), and mules only gather resources(and can fix stuff ;p)...what do they all have in common? They can't do a certain thing, and the riddle is that despite what you may expect, zerglings/zealots can't do jack vs an Ultra, even more so with upgrades. It's not a design flaw, in fact it is intentional. It doesn't make Ultralisks overpowered, because unlike SC1 - they have many more enemies...as in alot more ways to make them melt away under the right firepower.
