Okay, so this isn't a generality, but in the last three months I've run into a few major problems with Windows Vista: Drivers. The drivers are absolutely terrible for any mobile device including laptops.

OMG it's frustrating. I've had a number of clients bring me Vista on newly purchased computers of all brands with driver issues. Seriously, why did Microsoft put these out and then not support old hardware? WTF! Another major conflict has been with software. Plain and simple: not everything (or even most things) run in Vista. Period. It doesn't happen. A lot of games that weren't released for XP don't work at all and Microsoft admits it.

So as a warning to all of you who might have been considering Vista as an upcoming upgrade: Wait for at least 6 months. It's development isn't completed yet and right now it sucks.

In fact, I just switched back to XP because I was having ridiculous Video Card issues. It wouldn't play videos, and I had run into a problem with the video driver that DID work, it made my system run at 100% CPU and was completely unfixable. Pretty SCHWEET!

So I hope this saves one person from the headaches I'm getting from Vista.

And don't get me started on networking.

I am getting XP soon. I was considering Vista, but not anymore. Thanks.
    I really hate headaches/retarded OS's.

I heard about these, and I agree, cause I have tried Vista too. The only good thing in it is the graphic, but fortunately I found nice Vista theme packs for xp so I won't need to stand the Vista's malfunctions

wordems, everything I've heard from friends and reviews has been that Vista provides no real benefits and plenty of problems

the Apple Mac adds on TV have been exploiting this issue rather humorously

Ya I was excited when we got the new comp with Vista... but then for some reason It kept opening new internet windows, at about 70 I restarted it , and that caused my WoW patch update mess up. (first one it was a super update)

Yeah, im running Vista on my laptop right now, and I just find it annoying that it asks you 6 times by 6 different safety programs if you want to upload a file....Just a bunch of useless anti-virus junk that just simply slows the comp down.

Theres no REASON to upgrade to Vista.

I don't know why people can't see that its all just graphics. ( Well, sorta. )

Vista is in the bad Category for me.

Right now there is no reason. But it still has some benefits: Better grafics :D, some good abbilities for laptops, Better firewall and some other things. But right now there are a big number of bugs, so its not really worth it. And when service pack 3 comes out, XP "should" be better.

Don't forget 64bit application abilities. But once again, most programs don't code in 64 bit yet.

Also, with a 64 bit Operating System you can use up to 8GB of memory instead of only 4GB as you can with a 32bit OS like XP.

There are motherboards that support more than 4GB of memory? I wonder how much the Service pack does. I downloaded the release candidate and haven't really noticed anything different but then I haven't had any problems so the fixes would be transparent to me.

Yeah, BoP, you just need a 64bit motherboard and OS and you're good to go for 8GB.

I know what I am saying is that I haven't seen any motherboards that can handle 8GB of memory. So far all I see is motherbaords that say they can take 4 GB max and I have been looking at 64-bit motherboards.

Although Vista can support 8GB, ironically it needs like twice the RAM for the same performance anyaway..
