In an interview with one of China's leading virologists, Yi Guan, I read this nifty little tidbit:

Basically, if these two somewhat similar strains of flu virus mix together, we're dead. We have no medical protection against H1N1. H5N1 has a 50% mortality rate.

Yeah, "The chance is very, very low that these two viruses will mix together", but "we cannot rule out the possibility".

    Yay.

The title is false, it should read "Half of us are dead!"

No, because that's the first wave of infection. Statistically, one person would live.

Jup. And he would die soon after.

By the way, how would it reach those tribes who live in forests and stuff? They would survive as well. Ah, the t-shirts we send them will always be a monument for our extinct race!

Don't you think that's overreacting just a little?

Crap. How could I have missed this? So who invented flying humans then? ;P

I mean, it only goes from human to human, or possibly pigs. Would be strange if it somehow travels thousands of kilomiters into a dense jungle, all that time without a host. Or am I missing something again? :s

That won't stop a virus form getting in. There's cracks, leaks, anything that can bring in a virus.

i'll live on the 10 boxes of cornflakes that i have stacked on my fridge.

I keep moving onto the new boxes when the previous one gets too full of crumbs. So all i have is loads of 30% filled cornflakes boxes.

The question here, is if i can summon the strength to eat bowels of cornflakes which are 80% crumbs..

Can't we just declare a safe area and check everyone while the checkers are in spacesuits (air tight)
and just let the healthy through.
or you could leave them in a room for a day and see if they live or not

By the way, when i mean safe area i mean like a giant underground bunker/vault.
