Okay, simple question. What color is your blood. I'm surprised at how many people at my school got the question wrong. It's simply absurd to think that your blood is blue. Just cause your vein is blue doesn't mean your blood is blue, and all that bull about how when it touches air it turns red...

The red color of blood is due to red blood cells, or more specifically the hemoglobin protein. When oxygenated your blood is a bright red, and when deoxygenated (as in veins) your blood is darker - but still red. Veins appear blue because of the properties of light, your skin, and visual processing.

However, some animals (molluscs, horseshoe crabs, others) actually have blue blood. This is because of a protein called hemocyanin, which is colorless when deoxygenated and blue when oxygenated. So one of these animals would have a blood color that is dependent on oxygen conditions and light conditions, ranging from a palish yellow to dark blue.

My blood gets really dark when deoxygenated, so dark I wouldn't really call it red, almost a maroon. And it smells odd.

 

I still would prefer it to be blue...

 

It would be bad if it were blue. Red is the number one color that stands out to our eyes and brains (Why do you think so many warnings, flags, and all kinds of other BOLD things are red?). Bleeding is bad. So, red liquid on you goes BOOM in your mind. Blue liquid on you would not stand out near as much. It's a defense mechanism or something like that.

 

I've never heard anyone saying that their blood is blue.

blood is red because of the red blood cell . the cell got a special protein that's call hemoglobine something so it appear red.
