Yeah its actually a few months old so I wouldn't hold anything to it... they probably just did it to see how people would react and what the community thought.

Oops. I was looking at the time on the top of the post, it looked like it was posted today. Still this could mean SOMETHING. Duran calls Zeratul "Prodigal" when the Protoss/Zerg hybrid is revealed in Broodwar. (I did not remember this when I made this SN!). EDIT: ssjfox, look at quote 14.

Well, might as well get off a quick discussion on what the hybrids would be, what they'd look like, traits, etc. If theres already a hybrid topic point me to it before I get intellectual.
zerg hybrids crossed with protoss would be so kick ass it should be new race but knowing blizzard their to lazy to make a new race lol imangine a zergling zealot
Too lazy?! As if they hadn't designed, modelled and textured every single unit they thought of putting in the game which pretty soon got scrapped... Blizzard is anything but lazy.
It's not about the time. It's about the godlike balance between the three races. The more races, the less unique mechanics per race. Each of the three races can get a lot more stuff each compared to 4 or 5 races.
Gasmaskguy, Their could be a supreme balance between four races, before Starcraft everyone woul dahve assumed that two similar races was the pinnacle of balance. Point is Blizzard are exceptional at making at tweaking out these games. I would also imagine that an expansion would be released within 18 months of the original, presumably it would contain a fourth race, potentially being the Xel'naga. Hopefully it would be something incredibly different from all the current ones.
I don't doubt that Blizzard can make a fourth or a fifth race. I would just prefer if the expansion further distinguished the already existing races, adding a few new units to each race etc.
I agree with Gasmask I don't think there should be a whole new race for they hybrid or anything I'd rather just see the three normal races expand. Be nice if there was a hybrid race in the game but like the naga in wc3, not really a whole race kind of a sub race made for special missions and the editor.
The hybrids would probably only be in the campaign and not part of the Zerg race for balancing reasons. Blizzard might put the Hybrids in the campaign editor so we can use them. Wouldn't it be rigged if there was an entire race of hybrids in melee games?
