This is one reason I wish a StarCraft novel would feature a Dragoon character.

Dragoons only appeared in Shadow of the Xel'Naga... which is the crappiest of the StarCraft novels :(

Well technically that 4 year truce was only due to the Zerg disapearance. Most probably Terrans are still fighting terrans somewhere, and protoss fightning protoss somewhere. This is what a failure we have come to, always in war somewhere.

I don't think protoss would fight protoss on large scale in that time.
There might still be small fights between the likes of Aldaris and dark templar, but most protoss would be too busy rebuilding what's left of their society on Shakuras.
Also the now limited Dragoons should be considered too valuable resource to waste on petty fights like these

I would imagine Dragoons are busy working as instructors for the current crop of stalkers training them up for battle.

If I was an immortal I would spend all day taunting tank batteries. "Hah hah you can't kill me" sort of thing from a distance.

lol I did not noticed that, frankly I am a new man...... put me back as a Cannon Fodder :D.

Back on topic most probably they can adapt the dragoon body and the Immortals body to help with the reconstruction of Aiur and Shakuras (the pop singer), like we adapt our handicapped to adapt our world.

:-\ I hope that Immortals and Dragoons have the rights to park in handicap only zone.... ;D

Learn to dance of course. It ain't easy with four legs.

But seriously. My guess is they (would) meditate. Since they (probably) don't have physical needs (Eating, sleeping, sexing), they spend their non-battle time meditating and bringing themselves closer to the Khala. Since the Protoss are a highly zealous warrior nation where religion is the very core of their society, you can compare it to other warrior cultures with strong religion, specifically Asian and Native American. Before battle, they would spend up to days meditating, war dancing, and communing with either deities or deceased ancestors.

Somehow, I think playing Minesweeper would be more fun than meditating for hours on end. But meditating sounds much more realistic since it would allow them to easily move into a peaceful state of mind while turmoil rages in the galaxy.

    The opposite if the archon.

Who says they don;t have hands? Just because they have injured, ruined bodies doesn;t mean they have no arms.

And why not? Not during battle no. I am sure there is a way they can open there shells to do stuff, that requires a more delicate touch then a dragoon leg can provide.

Compared to us, a long way. The average protoss is what, nine feet tall. They have to have arms that are at least 4 feet long. I'm sure they could get their shells to kneel as they did stuff with their normal appendages.

    I think they just can't.

Alternatively, there could be mechanical arms that come out from the sensor/gyro/whatever dome underneath.

I don't think it makes sense to have arm ports for the original arms; quite a few of the Protoss would have lost arms or had their spine(-equivalent) shattered.
