Hi everyone, i'm just wondering whats up with the ranking system, is it broken or something? I was sitting on rank 5 1v1 gold league but then i stopped playing and when i resumed my SCII gaming i got demoted to rank 18 1v1 gold league after loosing a bunch of games in a row but then the loosing streak stopped and i started winning every other game for about 30 maybe 40 games. After this, i won 2 games in a row which made no difference to my rank but then i lost the next game badly to a zerg rusher and i was demoted to rank 50 silver league. So im just wondering if something is wrong with the ranking system if i get demoted to a lower league and a lower ranking in that league after loosing 1 game? :S
Please use the search function, I think Stirlitz made a nice post explaining how this works. I seem to remember reading that your progress is monitored occasionally, not continuously, which is why sometimes you are shifted in an unexpected way (because the set of matches it bases its decision on has passed and you'd think the most recent matches caused it).
Check the links in this post, they're a very good article(in 2 parts) over at the teamliquid forums. And yeah, like kuvasz said it's generally useful to use the search feature before posting(or reading the thread 4 places below yours as it was about the same thing, lol )
