If you it came to it, assuming that there are others so there is a chance of it becoming a reality, would you fight, kill and die for your beliefs? Is imposing what you believe on other people a moral wrong? even when you strongly believe that it is better for them in the long run? and would you die, for your children to have a chance to live that dream? EDIT: Clarification; You live in your version of a paradise politically, then revolutionaries try to change the system into their version of paradise, would you defend it, thereby forcing what you want unto them?
I would not try to force my values on others, but if they try to force theirs on me, I would defend my ideals.
But if you were defending your ideals, in a state system for example, against revolutionaries , you would indeed be forcing your preference on them.
it all depends on what part of my beliefs that you want me to fight, or die, for(killing is VERY, VERY situational for me). i wont impose my beliefs on other i see no reason why i should change what they believe in, personnaly i dont think its morally wrong to impose your beliefs on others, just on how you do that might tho. dieing for my children for a dream that i want them to have is not something i would do, for i wont have children(and you cant make me have them either!!!!).
yes, i would fight for my ideals, but i wouldnt fight beyond my personal cone, meaning that if they leave me alone at that point, i would stop beating the hell out of them, leaving us both to our beliefs
The question is confusing and clarification isn't helping either. If it's only either my believes or theirs, I'd probably fight, if there's an option of coexistance I'd go for that
I'd avoid violence if at all possible, so I chose no. If forced to defend myself physically, though, I won't back down. As long as whatever system I am in is decent enough, I see no reason to act violently. If it isn't, then there's a good chance that I'd end up just leaving. Simply put, I'd rather not kill or die over something as trivial as ideals.
PURGE THE SINNERS. i'd try to get them to see my ideas, and if they won't, i'll try to reason with them. I wouldn't want to fight, unless their idea of a utopia involved people dying, or something really lame like reverting back to something i know wouldn't work. in which case, force them to believe. I don't like it but it's a utopia, everything is supposed to be perfect. I wouldn't let a small group of people wanting differently change something that is supposed to be a utopia. and then, nothing more would happen. i would explain what i did ad why and since it'd be this politically utopian thin, they'd understand and life would go about its business.
This is ambiguous at best, and a false dilemma at worst. I would certainly die in an attempt to defend my personal rights. I would not die in an attempt to enslave others. Self defense is not 'imposing my beliefs on others', or 'forcing what I want onto them'. It's preventing them from imposing their beliefs onto me. Your right to pursue your dreams ends where my life and personal property rights begin.
A system of government is not the same as personal ideals and beliefs. I can go to other countries and still believe I shouldn't needlessly attack another, or that should be nice to someone I don't know. If someone is trying to overthrow the government, I would pick the side I think is better for the people. When I said I would fight for my values, I mean, people are allowed to have whatever values they want, but the second they tell me I have to have the same values, then I fight. I won't try to force my values on them, I will just stop them form forcing theirs on me and anyone else who doesn't want values forced on them. I fell people have the right to do whatever they hell they want until it encroaches on someone else's right to do what they want, or causes injury to that person.
Although you described to me what you mean in the chat room, I can't vote. The circumstances for me to fight are varied. It depends... If it's something say... to legalize gay marriage, no I would not fight even though others are. Why? Because it doesn't affect me or any of my family or many friends. If it was say...... umm... Alright then... I wouldn't die for anything, but I would kill and fight for something. I just haven't found what. If it was say someone trying to bulldoze my home, then yes I would fight it. I would probably just put up a sign saying "DONT BULLDOZE MY HOUSE!" A question though, do protestors really make a difference in what the government decides? If not, you see why I would think it isn't worth it to fight it a higher power ultimately decides the outcome. Please don't bring this to god and fate ad destiny... I had to write an essay on this. I would fight, it just depends on what I'm fighting for and what counts as "fighting". If my life is on the line, I will not do it. I value my life more than the greater good. If I died fighting for something, I am usually forgotten, I would probably not even make it on TV except in the headlines "4 More Dead From Protests" or whatever. Like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, they fought for civil rights, they actually did put their lives on the line to being killed by...caucasian.... people, which Martin Luther King actually died from. So I do not want to risk my life fighting for something that I would not be remembered from.
