here in holland, scholars are on a strike because of the minimum 1040 school hours per year and the fact that the schools couldnt live up to that, so they created idiotic hours that are just fillers where we dont do anything at all, except watch movies. we dont need 1040 hours at school per year, we can do with far less and just work at home, but the government refuses to listen. your opinion plz?
at least you get to watch tv -.- I didn't see it happen too much here up to high schools, but in colledges it's serious issue imo. Though government has little to do with them, but I mean seriously, 2 hours wait between lectures? Sure, if someone lives near he/she can just go home, but I have over half an hour trip by bus and that's not counting actually getting one (they set up schedules to scerw me on these occasions). So if I decided to go home I could maybe eat something fast before going back. Not worth it, but staying at school for 2 hours (minus some time to go eat somewhere) is not an idea I like either ;/ I don't know how it compares with Holland, but I think fillers are always bad thing and many hours are probably simply wasted.
Schools in the US are required to have 180 days of school (at least in Florida). That means they're required to have 1080 hours of school per year. Doesn't seem all that outrageous to me... But I hated HS because it was pointless. If they actually taught SUBJECTS instead of life materials and crap like that, it would be better and worth the time. Unfortunately most of our peers are, well, idiots, and need that type of direction. But then again, let's not take cues from the US Education system, 'cause it sucks. @ Meee , bring a laptop to school.
that was last year when I was doing daily studies Now I'm going to school on weekends and it's usually like 4hrs lecture, 1hr break, 4hrs lecture So some time to eat lunch and not much left wasted if any. I don't feel like carrying it around if I'm only use it for like half an hour out of 9.
